Depart the UK on a day flight, arriving at Lima international airport. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the upscale neighbourhood of Miraflores. Check into your suite with views across the Pacific Ocean and spend the rest of the day relaxing and recovering from your flight.

Fly to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and transfer to one of the city's most exclusive hotels, Palacio Nazarenas. This former palace, located between the Plaza de Armas and the San Blas neighbourhood is home to Cusco's first outdoor pool. There are just 55 luxury suites and every guest is assigned the services of a personal butler. The rest of the day is free to rest and get acclimatised to the altitude.

A half-day city tour will show you this magical city built on the foundations of the Inca palaces. You will visit Korikancha - Temple of the Sum, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and the artistic San Blas district. After a short drive out of the city you will also visit the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the underground cave and temple of Kenko and Tambomachay, known as the Baths of the Inca.

Enjoy a relaxing day at leisure to enjoy the facilities at your hotel, or take an optional tour to visit the small community of Misminay and meet its people. Learn about their ancestral agricultural techniques and the pre-Incan tools that they still use today, enjoy a lunch prepared by the women of the community, who will also share the secrets of their weaving techniques and the process of dyeing wool with natural dyes.

Machu Picchu
Rise early this morning as you transfer to Ollantaytambo train station and board the luxurious Belmond Hiram Bingham train for an unforgettable scenic journey through the ever-changing landscapes of the beautiful Andes. Enjoy lunch along the way before arriving in Aguas Calientes, from where you'll transfer by bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the ancient Incan ruins, visiting the main plaza, the royal quarters, the Temple of Three Windows, the circular tower and the sacred Sun Dial and burial grounds.

Machu Picchu & Hiram Bingham train to Cusco
This morning you will have an opportunity to return to Machu Picchu for a second (unguided) visit. We highly recommend taking one of the first buses particularly if you intend to sit and watch the early morning mist lifting over the ruins, walk to the Sun Gate or scale the heady heights of Huayna Picchu before making a memorable return journey to Cusco on board the luxurious Hiram Bingham train. Upon arrival at Poroy Station, transfer back to Cusco and the luxurious Belmond Hotel Monasterio for a one-night stay.
