This five-day tailor-made self-drive tour highlights this very fact as you spend a day pampering yourself at the famous Blue Lagoon on the outskirts of Reykjavik before heading to Hotel Ranga on Iceland's incredible south coast. Here you'll experience the thrill of a super jeep tour through some of the country's most spectacular scenery before returning to Reykjavik via the Golden Circle, a landscape of geysers and waterfalls that make up some of the country's best-known sites.
Day by day itinerary
The Blue Lagoon
Arrive at Keflavik Airport on the outskirts of Iceland's capital Reykjavik. Pick up your hire car and drive for around 20 minutes to the Blue Lagoon at the famous Silica Hotel. Check into your room before spending the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying all the facilities the spa has to offer, all in truly amazing natural surroundings in the heart of a stunning lava landscape.
Stay: Silica Hotel (Superior)
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing 30-minute massage before beginning a two-hour drive to Hella on Iceland's south coast. Check into the stunning Hotel Ranga where you'll spend the night. The rest of the days is yours to relax and enjoy the hotel's facilities. Perhaps enjoy a soak in one of the three outdoor hot tubs that face the river or indulge in a spa treatment before a meal in the gourmet restaurant overlooking one of Iceland’s finest salmon rivers.

Thorsmork by Super Jeep
Enjoy breakfast at Hotel Ranga before departing on a thrilling super-jeep excursion to Thor's Woodland. Thorsmork is a unique region set in between three glaciers - Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull. To get there you'll journey by powerful super jeep on dirt roads over un-bridged glacial rivers. Along the way you'll see the effect that the great eruption of Eyjafjallajökull had on the landscape. In the evening, return to Hotel Ranga for a well-earned rest and soak in one of the hotel's hot tubs.
Stay: Hotel Ranga, Hella (Superior)
Horse back riding and the Golden Circle
Check out of Hotel Ranga this morning and head to Hestheimar Horse Farm, just a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Here you'll have the chance to enjoy a two-hour horse-back-riding tour, getting acquainted with the unique breed of Icelandic horse that remains virtually unchanged since the Vikings first bought them to the country in the 9th century. Continue on to Reykjavik via the magnificent Golden Circle, home to some of Iceland's most important geological sights including Geysir and the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall. Spend the evening in Reykjavik, where you'll stay at the superb Hotel Borg and enjoy one of the city's finest restaurants such as Grillmarket just around the corner from the hotel – we highly recommend a reservation.
