Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Depart UK

You'll start your journey in style with VIP airport lounge access before you board your overnight flight to Bangkok.

Days 2-3

You have two days to explore Bangkok, city of contrasts, where old-world meets cosmopolitan new at every turn. Don't miss the glittering Grand Palace and sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple, and the enormous Buddah reclining at nearby Wat Pho – these are truly magnificent landmarks. To soak up the energy of the city, visit bustling Khaosan Road, or one of several floating markets that bring the city's network of rivers and canals to life. After busy days spent sightseeing, return to relax at your accommodation, perhaps taking a dip in the riverside pool or indulging with a massage in the spa.

Day 4
Eastern & Oriental Express

Today you'll board the most iconic of Asia's trains – the Eastern & Oriental Express. You'll get acquainted with your cabin, resplendent with rich red and green furnishings against cherry wood panelling. Take a stroll to the open air observation car as the train farewells the city, before returning to your cabin to prepare for dinner. A multi-course feast awaits; expect a menu of regional cuisine with western influences, as well as free-flowing drinks and attentive service. When you retire for the night, your seats will be transformed into cosy beds with crisp linen sheets.

Day 5

After a leisurely breakfast served by personal steward to your cabin, you'll arrive in Kananchaburi, a rural town with a complex history. A range of included excursions are available to choose from, none more arresting than a trip to the River Kwai Bridge and the Thai-Burma Railway Museum to discover the region's wartime past. For those keen on staying outdoors, take a bike ride through lush rice paddies to a local farm, while foodies can visit a local wet market and noodle house with an expert chef before a cooking class aboard a raft river cruise. Back onboard, enjoy an exotic cocktail in the Bar Car and listen to some live jazz.

This morning, after a delicious breakfast, you'll disembark the train and transfer to your spectacular accommodation overlooking the Singapore River. You have two days to get to know this fascinating city, and you'll spend most of it in awe. Here, cutting-edge architecture is king, from the colossal Supertree forest at Gardens by the Bay to the surfboard-capped towers of Marina Bay Sands. In between, traditional hawker markets and colourful temples reflect the city's rich history. By night, venture out to see the city's restaurants and bars come alive, or relax in the comfort of your heritage hotel.

Days 9-13

Today you'll leave the city behind as you fly to the island paradise of Langkawi. Dark woods with white linens set a tranquil tone in your room, or you might prefer to upgrade to one of several stilted villas, some of which boast private pools and beach access. You have plenty of time to truly reset here; enjoy yoga on the beach, luxe treatments in the spa, and of course snorkelling in crystal-clear waters teeming with tropical fish. The food here is equally special; choose from authentic Malaysian cuisine, Thai specialties, or fresh fish and pizza on the beach. You'll also be surrounded by wildlife – spot dusky langur monkeys in the trees and geckos on the sand.
