Day by day itinerary

Day 1

You'll be met at the airport and transferred to the Prijeko Palace Hotel, a historic 15th-century building that was built for a local aristocratic family, and lovingly restored to its former glory within the city walls of Dubrovnik, it's Stara Loza Restaurant and wine cellars are the perfect place for sampling local cuisine and a relaxing drink after an afternoon exploring the town.

Day 2

Meet your local guide for a private walking tour of Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful stone-built cities in the world. Highlights include one of Europe's oldest pharmacies, which has been operating inside a Franciscan monastery since 1391; the 16th century Sponza Palace; the Church of St Blaise, the patron saint of the city; the Gothic Rector's Palace, which houses an impressive museum; and the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, which contains an original painting by Titian and a treasury famed for its collection of relics. The afternoon is free for your own exploration. We recommend a walk around the old city walls.

Day 3
Trebinje and Tvrdos Monastery

Today explore the picturesque town of Trebinje in Herzegovina, situated near the Adriatic coast, in between the UNESCO heritage sites of Dubrovnik, Kotor and Mostar, you find a city of wine, monasteries and many historic buildings. Once the tour through Trebinje is finished you will be driven to Tvrdos Monastery which is located 5 km from Trebinje on the road to Mostar and is dedicated to the Assumption of the Holy Virgin. Built by the Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena on the foundations of the old church in the 4th century Monastery was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout its centuries long history and today produces the highest quality wines.

Day 4
Dubrovnik to Kotor

Today leave Dubrovnik early for a day exploring the jewels of Boka Bay, first visiting the border town of Herceg Novi with its endless puzzle of fortresses, squares and churches, then Perast and its islands before continuing to Kotor. The city developed in the Middle Ages, into an important commercial and artistic centre Many empires battled for control over the city throughout the centuries from being an autonomous city of the Byzantine Empire, free city of medieval Serbia, and city under protection of Venice Republic just to be occupied later by France and then Austro Hungarian Monarchy, until Kotor finally became part of Yugoslavia, your accommodation is located on the coast of Prčanj in Boka Kotorska.

Day 5
Kotor City Walls

After breakfast your guide will meet you at the Main Gate and lead you on a climb to the St Giovanni Fortress, after time to admire the views of Kotor Bay, return to explore the old town of Kotor including entrance to the St Tryphon Cathedral, and the churches of St Mary of the River, St Luke and St Nikola. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax in the city of enjoy the comfort of your hotel.

Day 6

Today is yours to relax and enjoy Kotor, alternatively you may opt for a private tour of old royal Montenegro, taking in Cetinje, the old royal capital and Budva, one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic, and rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1976.

Day 7
Skadar Lake National Park

After breakfast transfer to the tiny village of Virpazar set on Skadar Lake the Balkan's largest lake, board your traditional fishing boat and tour through the reeds and waterlilies onto the lake and cruise past the village of Vranjina, past the Ottoman fortress of Lesendro, and continue via the Moraca canal towards Karuc passing the Kom Monastery. On arrival in Karac you will get the opportunity to taste the freshest of lake fish at a local restaurant. After lunch return to Virpazar with an opportunity to swim in the lake enroute.

Day 8
Kotor to Dubrovnik to UK

Today your private transfer will take you back to Dubrovnik for your flight back to the UK.
