An eight-day escorted tour through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia
City | Escorted tour | History & culture
Your tour begins in Vilnius, Lithuania's colourful capital, which is a beautiful blend of new and old. From there the tour takes you to historic Riga, capital of Latvia and home to some of Europe's most impressive Art Nouveau architecture. Finally you'll head to the Estonian capital Tallinn, where you'll spend two memorable days discovering the delights of the city's medieval old town on the edge of the Baltic Sea.
Day by day itinerary
Fly to Vilnius via Riga with Air Baltic and on arrival transfer to your city centre hotel. Enjoy some free time to relax before an evening welcome meeting in the hotel lobby gives you the chance to get to know your fellow travellers and tour leader.
The following day you'll enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Vilnius, taking in both the medieval and modern sides of Lithuania's colourful capital. See the Grand Cathedral of Peter and Paul and the beautiful Gothic architecture of St Anna church, before either spending an afternoon at leisure, or joining an optional tour to the medieval city of Trakai, known for its 14th century castle situated on an island in the middle of Galves Lake.
Stay: Hotel Panorama (Standard) or Radisson Blu (Superior)
After breakfast you'll depart Vilnius by coach and head to the Latvian capital Riga, stopping en route at the Hill of Crosses and the magnificent 18th century Rundale Palace, the former summer residence of the Duke of Kurland. Arrive in Riga and check into your hotel where you'll spend the next three nights.
The next day you'll take a tour of Riga - a treasure trove of early 20th century Art Nouveau architecture - taking in the colourful merchant houses, cosy beer cellars, street cafes and historical monuments of the city's old town.
Your last day in Latvia's capital can be spent at leisure or, if you prefer, on an optional sightseeing tour of Siguida, a region often referred to as the "Latvian Switzerland" on account of its breathtaking scenic beauty. Here you'll visit the 13th century Knight's Castle and the mysterious Gutmana Cave, the legend of which is linked to a romantic medieval love story.
Stay: Hanza Hotel (Superior) or Europa Royale (Superior)
