Capri holidays bring you to a glittering Mediterranean island, a resort since the the time of the Roman Republic and a sunny hideaway of cobbled streets, days-catch restaurants and the famous Blue Grotto. Located in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Sorrentine Pensinsula, Capri is a glamorous getaway, full of pretty piazzas and cool cafes, Roman ruins and rugged seascapes.
Capri Town and neighbouring uphill Anacapri are a mix of designer boutiques and traditional trattorias, with a hinterland of rural charm, grand villas, peeling stucco and and tangled, wild bouganvillea. The best time to visit is from April to October, when the main attraction – the sea – is at its most brilliant; we recommend spending at least a half-day out on the water. It's the best way to appreciate the three Faraglioni, Capri's iconic rock stacks jutting out of the sea.

When to go to Capri
Capri is a lovely destination year-round, owing to its Mediterranean climate, though the summer may prove too hot for some travellers, with highs in July and August edging towards 30°. This also happens to be when most tourists descend on the island, making the best time to visit Capri the late spring or early autumn. At these times, the sea will be warm enough for swimming and water sports. We recommend avoiding winter travel, as beginning in October many local restaurants and shops begin to close down for the season; however, this is also when prices shift down accordingly.
We take a look at the spectacularly bold travel advertisements of the 1930s and their promise of golden temples in India, lakeside retreats in Italy and deers grazing outside of Japanese temples. You'll be surprised at how much holds true to this day.
