Visit Komodo, Kalimantan & Sulawesi
There may not be much in the way of luxury accommodation but who needs it with huge national parks to explore, pink-sand beaches to leave lonely footprints on, bizarre funeral traditions to participate in and dragons and orangutans to stare in awe at.
Where to go in Komodo, Kalimantan & Sulawesi
One of Indonesia's largest but least explored islands, Sulawesi is an extraordinary outcrop, a bizarre sprawling shape surrounded by brilliant blue waters and covered in broad forests and odd geological marvels.
Taking up the largest portion of the island of Borneo, Kalimantan is still a largely undiscovered destination, with some special flora and fauna and tribal villages obscured by thick rainforest and towering geological peaks.
