Day by day itinerary

Day 1
UK/Venice

With airport access included, you’ll start your holiday in truly relaxing style before your flight to Venice and transfer to Silversea’s latest ship ¬– Silver Moon. Once you’ve checked into your butler-served suite, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore, perhaps taking in the iconic sights of St Mark’s Square and the Doge’s Palace, enjoying a gondola punt through the city’s labyrinthine waterways, or simply relaxing with a Bellini cocktail at the Hotel Metropole – a less touristy alternative to the ever-popular Harry’s Bar. Then, back on board, you’ll have time to take in the ship’s myriad facilities. Perhaps indulge with a spa treatment or familiarise yourself with Silversea’s latest dining concept, S.A.L.T. – an interactive space where guests can experience local culinary culture through workshops, lectures and demonstrations.

Day 2
Rijeka

Having sailed overnight, you’ll arrive in the port of Rijeka, Croatia’s third-largest city. It’s a delightful blend of 20th-century grittiness and elaborate Habsburg-era grandeur, which you’ll have the chance to take in on a city highlights tour. Alternatively, head out of town to discover the surrounding countryside on everything from cave visits to canyon hikes and even a rafting trip along the Kupa River.

Day 3
Split

Sail on to Split, whose walled old town and iconic Diocletian’s Palace provide a spectacular backdrop to the glittering waters of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Take the opportunity to explore the Old Town’s maze of stone streets, host to charming cafes and buzzing bars, perhaps paired with an olive oil tasting, or venture further afield with options that range from RIB boat island tours to tours of pretty Trogir or the beautiful Krka National Park.

Day 4
Dubrovnik

Today is a real trip highlight as you arrive into Dubrovnik – a walled city of winding limestone streets framed by enchanting baroque architecture and the Adriatic’s shimmering blue. Again, you’ll have a choice of excursions, including speedboat trips out to hidden grottos and farm-to-table food experiences featuring wine-paired gourmet dining. There’s a city tour, of course, which can be paired with a trip out to explore the city’s bucolic surrounds, while for something a little more adventurous, a buggy adventure and cable car ride blends the best in 4x4 excitement with stunning views from the summit of Srdj Hill.

Day 5
Corfu

Leaving Croatia behind, your overnight sailing sees you south to the Greek island of Corfu – a sun-kissed idyll whose influences range from French to Venetian. It’s a history best explore in the charming Old Town – a UNESCO World Heritage-listed maze of stone streets, craftsmen’s workshops and vine-draped cafés. You’ll have the chance to take in the best of it on an expert-led tour, which also includes a trip to the nearby Paleokastritsa Caves and some free time to swim and relax at idyllic Spyridon Bay. Alternatively, you might choose to explore the local culinary scene on a foodie’s walking tour or cooking class, or sail out to the prison ruins on nearby Vidos Island, once known as the ‘Alcatraz of Corfu’.

Day 6
Gallipoli

Your next stop is Gallipoli, tucked away in the Puglia region at the heel of Italy’s boot. Jutting out into the shimmering waters of the Ionian Sea, the town’s historic centre is treasure trove of baroque architecture, surrounded by 14th-century walls and flanked by a delightful harbour, dotted with colourful fishing boats. Again, the choice of excursions here is impressive, with everything from wine tastings to market visits and cookery classes in the company of a local chef. There’s also the chance to head further afield if you wish, perhaps to the coastal town of Otranto, whose cathedral is noted for its early-Christian mosaics, or to Lecce, where a walking tour will showcase the city’s grand baroque fineries, earning it the nickname ‘Florence of the South’.

Days 7-8
Kotor

Returning east, your next port of call is Kotor in Montenegro, where you’ll have two days to take in the delights of its World Heritage-listed old town and beauty of its fjord and mountain backdrop. Perhaps the best way to take it all in is with a guided highights tour, visiting both Kotor itself and nearby Perast – a town of just 349 inhabitants but host to some 16 churches and 17 former grand palaces, some in ruins, some being meticulously restored to their former glories. Of course, there are other options, too, so on your second day you might choose to delve a little deeper, perhaps heading to Boka Bay or on a full-day tour of the wider region, pairing museum and cathedral visits with brandy and wine tastings and lunch at a top local restaurant.

Day 9
Zadar

Retracing your steps north, you’ll again follow Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, this time making port in the historic city of Zadar. Here, an optional walking tour will showcase the walled old town with its myriad churches and cathedrals, while sailing trips and guided hikes offer the chance to explore both countryside and coast. The Paklenica National Park is a special highlight for its walking trails and viewpoints, as is the Zadar Archipelago, where pretty islands framed by gorgeous beaches pave the way for sunbathing and refreshing dips in the Adriatic Sea.

Day 10
Trieste

Your penultimate port is Trieste in Italy. This fascinating town has its own culture and dialect, distinct from the rest of Italy. And, that’s perhaps of no surprise, given its isolation from the rest of the Italian peninsula. Surrounded almost entirely by Slovenia, this once-great port of the Habsburg Empire is today a delightful mix of neo-classical and art nouveau architecture framing a harbour host to shiny yachts and flanked by a sweeping promenade. You’ll have the opportunity to explore it all with an introductory tour, or pair the city sights with a wine tasting experience, cave visit or tour of a local castle.

Day 11
Venice/UK

Finally arrive back into Venice, where you’ll disembark, transferring to the airport for your flight home.
