Explore the English Narrows & Chilean fjords
A true trip highlight awaits over the next four days as you explore the Chilean fjords, home to some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world. Here, huge glaciers and mountains frame deep valleys, and you'll immerse yourself with all manner of Zodiac and kayaking adventures, expertly led by the Silversea Expedition team. Spot the likes of fur seals, sea lions, dolphins and humpbacks, as well as a range of seabirds from skuas and gulls to cormorants, Magellanic penguins and Andean condors that soar amongst the mountain peaks. English Narrows refers to a narrow passage at the southern end of the Messier Channel in Chile’s Region XI, Aysen del General Carlos Ibanez del Campos. The region is Chile’s least populated and a few kilometres south of English Narrows is Puerto Eden, the only settlement along the entire Chilean Inside Passage.

Ushuaia, Argentina & Puerto Williams, Chile
Your final day on board sees you explore the frontier of Ushuaia and the famed Tierra del Fuego national park. Known as the 'end of the world', Ushuaia looks out across the dramatic Beagle Channel and the mountains, glaciers and gaping fjords of Tierra del Fuego, home to incredible wildlife from penguins to whales, which you'll observe on boat trips and Zodiacs. Ultra-fresh seafood is a highlight here – be sure to sample the King crab, sea bass and mussels. Despite its remote location, Ushuaia is a surprisingly busy and lively resort, with lots to keep visitors entertained. Continue on to Puerto Williams in the evening.
Puerto Williams is located on Navarino Island on the southern shores of the Beagle Channel. It claims to be the “southernmost city in the world”, however owing to its small size the Argentinean city of Ushuaia, to the north of the channel also claims the same title. The surrounding scenery is magnificent. The wild windswept mountains rise above the tree line and are regularly dusted with snow. The city itself has the dramatic backdrop called “Dientes de Navarino” (literally “teeth of Navarino”), which rival the famous Torres del Paine further to the north. The current city was established as a naval base in 1953 and honours the British-Chilean naval commander John Williams Wilson of the 16th century. It charms the visitor with a small village feel, complete with rustic buildings and the homely smell of drifting wood smoke. A haven of peace at the end of the world.
