Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, London to Venice

Your journey begins as you board the opulent Belmond British Pullman train at London Victoria and enjoy a delicious brunch and Bellini, the rolling Kent countryside your backdrop. Then, on arrival in Paris, you'll get your first glimpse of those iconic blue-and-gold train carriages before boarding, each painstakingly restored to its former 1920s glory. After freshening up, prepare to indulge among the glittering crystal of the restaurant car where you'll enjoy a sumptuous four-course dinner, the likes of salt marsh Mont St Michel lamb and fresh Brittany lobsters on the menu. Then, after a nightcap in the convivial bar car alongside the twinkle of the baby grand, retire to your cabin, which will have been expertly transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Days 2-3
Venice, Italy

After enjoying a continental breakfast in your cabin, spend the morning relaxing as you take in outside's chocolate-box villages and snow-capped Alpine countryside. Then, a three-course lunch, and later a selection of freshly-baked pastries, will see you through to this evening where you'll finally cross the Venetian Lagoon and pull into one of the world's most romantic cities – Venice.

Dismbark and take your private boat transfer to the five-star Baglioni Hotel Luna in the centre of the city for a two-night stay. Inside you'll find stylish 18th-century interiors and outside a canal-facing cafe.  The hotel location, mere steps from St Mark's square, provides a wonderful base from which to explore. Discover Venice and all its splendours, from its famous gondola-studded canals and iconic bridges to its palazzos – and don't miss a visit to the architectural delights of Doge's Palace and cathedral of St. Mark's Basilica. There's even the chance to take a boat trip over to Burano and its famous glass factories.

The beautiful walled city of Kotor is your next stop today – all twisting streets, local markets and Byzantine architecture. Perhaps indulge with a spa treatment in the famous Canyon Ranch spa or sunbathe on the pool deck before dinner tonight. There's everything from creative Italian dishes at Toscana like octopus carpaccio with champagne vinaigrette and artichoke and parmesan timbale with black truffle sauce to French delights in Jacques’ gleaming show kitchen – we particularly recommend the coq au vin or steak frites.
