Ocean cruise

East meets Middle East on this spectacular sailing aboard the Seven Seas Voyager. You’ll kick things off in opulent style with a night in Dubai before taking in the deserts and mountains of seldom-explored Fujairah, where dune drives and camel safaris will introduce you to its sandy expanse. For a complete contrast, you’ll arrive in Mumbai next – a city famed for its glamorous Bollywood film industry – followed by stops in Goa, Mangalore and Cochin, each one as illuminating as the last. Colombo is next, and the chance to explore its palatial mansions and colourful markets, before a hop across the Bay of Bengal brings you to the gilded spires of Yangon’s Schwedagon Pagoda. You’ll then bring things to a fittingly thrilling conclusion, first with a night on Thailand’s idyllic Andaman Coast and then in Singapore – a city celebrating its 200th year in 2019.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1
UK to Dubai

Begin your holiday in style with included VIP airport lounge access before boarding your overnight flight to Dubai, arriving on day two.

Day 2

Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to the ship – but before you embark, take the chance to discover this city of glamour, where a cutting-edge cosmopolitan cityscape provides the base for everything from gleaming shopping malls and mega-skyscrapers to traditional, bustling souks. Then, back on board, settle in to your elegant stateroom, many of which are adorned with marble bathrooms and private balconies, before the first of your meals tonight – all included and no reservations required. The flagship restaurant, Compass Rose, is particularly special, offering European-inspired cuisine in a refined, ultra-elegant setting.

Day 3

Today sees you sail to Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman, where the rippled mountains of Hajar provide a rugged frame for shopping in the authentic souks and bazaars. Take advantage of the myriad excursions organised directly by the ship that include the likes of drives through ochre desert dunes, camel safaris and a voyage to the spectacular turquoise of the Musandam Fjords.

Days 4-5
At sea

You’ve got two full days to take advantage of the seemingly never-ending delights of the ship. Perhaps enjoy spa indulgences in the exquisite Canyon Ranch spa that offers everything from signature treatments to seaweed facials, or soak up some sun on the elegant teak-wood pool deck, featuring a heated pool and two bubbling whirlpools. Then, sophisticated meals in one of five exquisite restaurants, such as Italian Sette Mari or the chic-Parisian ambience of Chartreuse, are best culminated in the convivial casino or a lounge with a nightcap or two.

Days 6-7

Day six sees you anchor in Mumbai, where delightfully hectic streets house colourful spice and fabric markets, and studios and specially-designed cinemas play host to vibrant Bollywood performances. For more natural delights, head to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park or verdant curves of Gharapuri Island. The latter is home to the Elephanta Caves – a spectacular collection of intricate shrines, courtyards and grand halls. Come dusk, we recommend a night tour where you’ll visit the buzzing night market and the illuminated buildings of Mumbai.

Day 8

Sail into Goa today, where golden sands lie alongside a melting pot of Portuguese and Hindu culture, from vibrant temples to ancient, royal churches. Head on an excursion organised directly from the ship to buy fragrant spices and search for local crafts in the lively markets alongside enjoying the likes of fresh seafood, curries, stuffed oysters and roast suckling pig.

Days 9-10
Mangalore & Cochin

Arrive in the lesser-explored Indian city of Mangalore on day nine, where red-roofed houses, golden beaches and verdant jungles provide a scenic base for exploring its fascinating cashew nut industry, visiting local homes and discovering glittering temples. Then, the port town of Cochin is your next stop, where a synergy of culture is embodied in everything from colonial houses to synagogues and temples. Stroll along the harbour where ancient fishing nets are still used today, and immerse yourself in Kathakali and kalarippayat, the traditional forms of Indian dance, for which Cochin is so well-known.

Days 11-12
At sea/Colombo

Then, on day 12, arrive in Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo, where highlights include the cobbled streets and open-air bazaars of Pettah, the city’s oldest green space in Viharamahadevi Park and the historic red-and-white tiles of the Jami Ul-Alfar mosque.

And, if you like staying active, the excellent fitness centre, yoga classes and full-circle jogging track are on hand at all hours. Then, day 14 will see you anchor into Myanmar's largest city, Yangon. Its shining star is the golden Buddhist statue of Shwedagon Paya, best explored with included tours from the ship. We also recommend a stroll around the pagodas, lakes, myriad parks and downtown market tours for authentic local craft shopping.
