Contrast Ireland's historic charms with the dramatic summer landscapes of Iceland on this no-fly Celebrity cruise. Stay close to home as you board at Southampton, dropping anchor in the Channel Islands, Cork and Glasgow  where you'll pause for whisky tasting, traditional pub visits and countryside strolls before two full days at sea. Then, it's time to swap the cosseting luxuries of Celebrity Silhouette for the breathtaking scenes of Iceland in Akureyri and Reykjavik, enjoying everything from Blue Lagoon soaks and whale watching safaris to 4WD adventures between giant waterfalls and lava fields. Finally, having broken the journey home with a stop in Belfast and the famed Giant's Causeway, you'll sail back to Southampton.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Board at Southampton

Make your way to Southampton to board Celebrity Silhouette and check in to your ultra-spacious suite – simply ask us if you'd like to opt for a private veranda – before your first dinner tonight. Perhaps begin your trip with a visit to Grand Cuvée, the elegant main restaurant, for a wine-paired, three-course meal led by your sommelier.

Day 2
St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands

Anchor in to Guernsey and the picturesque harbour of St Peter Port today. With an array of excursions on offer, all organised directly from the ship, you can explore as much or as little as you like. Perhaps learn about the German occupation of Guernsey, head over to the tiny island of Sark or simply stroll along the cliffside trails, pausing at the historic Cornet Castle on the waterfront.

Day 3
Cork, Ireland

Sail to what’s often referred to as ‘the real capital of Ireland’ today, the musical capital of Cork. Highlights include the nearby Killarney National Park, or why not head to 'Ireland's Alcatraz', an historic 104-acre island that was once home to an infamous prison? To really take in the city, though, we highly recommend a walking tour, with a stop at a whisky distillery or classic Irish pub.

Day 4
Dunmore East, Co Waterford, Ireland

You've got the day to explore Waterford in Dunmore East today, Ireland’s oldest city, which still retains parts of its ancient walls. We recommend a guided walking tour – easily organised through the ship – to really get a feel for the area’s history at the Waterford Museum of Treasures and learning about the influence the Vikings had on Waterford's history and culture. Alternatively, enjoy a tranquil Irish countryside drive to famous Tipperary, home of the iconic Rock of Cashel and Cahir Castle.

Day 5
Glasgow, Scotland

After breakfast, arrive in Greenock in Glasgow. There’s everything from classic Scottish whisky tasting at local distilleries to Loch Lomond visits on offer, as well as visiting Edinburgh, just a one-hour drive away. Here, we’d highly recommend a tour of the famous 'Britannia' yacht, well as a guided walking tour of Edinburgh where you can learn the art of the bagpipes and taste fine whiskies. What’s more, this cruise also coincides with the The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the annual series of military tattoos performed by British Armed Forces. Enjoy VIP seating followed by a champagne and canapé reception – just ask one of our cruise experts at the time of enquiring if you'd like to add this on to your cruise.

Day 6

The maritime city of Liverpool is your next stop today. Visit the iconic 'Three Graces' buildings or even Conwy Castle in the north of Wales. Of course, this is also the home of the Beatles, and there are several tours on offer giving you the chance to learn about their iconic history in this musical city.

Days 7-8
At sea

Take advantage of being at sea over the next two days to really make the most of all that Celebrity Silhouette has to offer. Perhaps pick up a souvenir at the stylish boutiques, burn off any excess at the fitness centre or set up a game at the newly-redesigned Lawn Club for croquet and golf putting with new-found friends. It's the perfect prelude to a cocktail at the laidback Lawn Grill before finishing off the evening with inventive cuisine at Blu – paired with sustainable wine – or globally-inspired menus at Luminae. Then, digestifs are best enjoyed at the stylish Ensemble Lounge before perhaps an exciting evening at the theatre or casino.

Day 9
Akureyri, Iceland

Sail to Iceland today and look forward to a trip highlight as you anchor in to Akureyri, home to a thriving café scene, gourmet restaurants and buzzing nightlife. What’s more, Iceland's eternal Midnight Sun, appearing from May-August, affords you even more time to explore. Close to the city, it's well worth visiting Grimsey Island, home to only 92 residents and thousands of sea birds, and learning about local culture at the fascinating Herring Era Museum. Most spectacular, however, are the dramatic landscapes and breathtaking scenes you’ll find just outside the city, from thundering waterfalls to snow-capped mountains and sweeping fjords. Explore the likes of ancient lava formations, the famous Godafoss waterfall, hot springs and geothermal landscapes with a private driver or on an off-road 4WD adventure. Iceland is known as one of the world's whale watching capitals, and if you can make time, we'd highly recommend booking onto a whale watching safari.

Days 10-11
Reykjavik, Iceland

Sail to the exciting capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, today, for two full days of exploration. It's well worth spending a day discovering the city with its fabulous culinary scene – including lobster feasts during summer – and artsy boutiques. Then, spend your second day exploring the nearby natural world with everything from 4WD adventures to horseback rides, pausing at such Golden Circle icons as Thingvellir National Park and the Gullfoss waterfall. Finish off the day with a soak in the famous blue waters of the Blue Lagoon before returning to the ship.

You've got another day at sea today to relax after your adventures in Iceland. It's the perfect time to head to the spa for an indulgent treatment or to the adults-only pool and hot tub. Day 13
Belfast, Northern Ireland

Anchor in to your penultimate stop today – Belfast. A fascinating city home to cultural quarters including the Cathedral and Titanic Quarter, it's all best explored with walking tours, where you'll learn about the infamous Titanic, traditional Irish music and visit a traditional Irish pub. It's also close to an abundance of beautiful countryside, from the 'Eighth Wonder of the World', the Giant's Causeway, to the Ards Peninsula and Glenariff Forest Park.

Day 15
