Day by day itinerary

Day 1
UK to Tokyo

You'll begin your holiday in style with included airport lounge access before an overnight flight to Tokyo, arriving on day two.

Days 2-3

On arrival at Narita Airport, you'll be met by a private driver for an included transfer to your luxury hotel in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. Home to the world’s busiest train station and a full range of neon bars, restaurants and karaoke joints, this is the Japanese capital at its lively best. Don’t forget to look behind its skyscrapers into Golden Gai, where you’ll discover a veritable rabbit warren of hidden streets home to locals-favourite sushi counters and a host of other lively restaurants and bars. Then, after a restful night at your hotel, it's time to make the most of Tokyo's famously efficient public transport system, as you join some of its eight-million daily users on an expert-led tour of the city's highlights. Using your included 'IC' card, you'll tap in and tap out to take in everything from shinto shrines to imperial palaces and sprawling parks and gardens.

Stay: Hilton Shinjuku, Tokyo, Honshu (Superior)

Day 4
Tokyo / Yokohama

Enjoy a morning at leisure, either relaxing at the hotel or heading out to take in more of the sights at your own pace. Then, an included transfer will see you to the port of Yokohama where you'll board your luxury ship – Celebrity Millennium. Having undergone a full refurbishment – part of the Celebrity Revolution programme covering the entire Celebrity Fleet – you'll be treated to enhanced spa and dining facilities, state-of-the-art public venues, including an all-new sundeck and lounge, and ultra-stylish suites by acclaimed British interior designer Kelly Hoppen MBE.

Day 5
Mt Fuji (Shimizu)

Arrive into Shimizu this morning for a full day exploring the region around Japan's most famous mountain. On clear days, particularly in winter, Mt. Fuji  is visible from as far as Tokyo, 60 miles away. And, when its 3,776-metre-high summit is dusted with snow, it really is spectacular. You'll have the chance to see it up close today, on a day trip into Hakone National Park – a region of glittering lakes, verdant valleys and hot springs, which almost all enjoy views of that iconic peak.

Day 6

Today's port of call is Osaka, Japan's third-largest city. And, in keeping with its merchant roots, the whole experience is somewhat brasher than its flashy Tokyo and Kyoto cousins. With a river cutting right through its centre, it's a breeze to explore on foot, and the dining scene is one of the best in the country, with the local izakaya eateries serving up delicious, tapas-style food in wonderfully informal settings.

Day 7
Kobe, Japan

As a port city, Kobe's history is nothing if not fascinating. Home to one of the country's first foreign communities, it's also been a vital maritime gateway ever since Japan first began trading with China. Today, it's a thriving and buzzy city, home to some high-quality restaurants and a burgeoning cafe scene. At 354ft, Kobe Port Tower is an iconic landmark offering staggering views from its upper deck. But, if heights are not your thing, there's always the delicious local speciality to tuck into – teppanyaki-grilled kobe beef.

Day 8
Kochi, Japan

Sailing on to Shikoku Island, you'll arrive at the compact city of Kochi. Be sure to visit the Kochi Castle, a fine example of traditional Japanese architecture, or head out into the verdant surrounds to visit Godaisan mountain, from where you'll enjoy fantastic views back across the city. Alternatively, if you're after food, drink and a lively atmosphere, make you way to the restaurants around Harimaya-bashi – a replica of a bridge made famous in old Japanese songs and films.

Day 9
Kagoshima, Japan

Kagoshima – voted as Japan's friendliest city – is often compared to its Italian sister city, Naples, due in the main to a similarly mild climate and delightful palm-tree-lined streets lined. Oh yes, and there's also Sakurajima, Kagoshima's version of Vesuvius. Located just across the bay, this still-active volcano often has locals reaching for their umbrellas as another ash cloud cloaks the city, obscuring the sun like a thick fog.

Day 10
Busan, South Korea

Having sailed through the night, this morning sees you arrive not only in another city, but another country – South Korea. It's a fleeting visit, though, so be sure to get the best views of the world’s fifth largest port with a trip to the top of the 387ft Busan Tower. Alternatively, head for the shores of Gwangalli Beach to look out at the iconic Gwangan Bridge, or perhaps pay a visit to Busan's bustling fish market, a delightfully atmospheric mix of traders and restaurants.

Day 11
At Sea

With a full day at sea, you'll have the chance to unwind and enjoy the delights of your ultra-luxury ship. Perhaps soak up some sunshine at one of the outside lounges, relax in the library, take a dip in the pool or indulge with a treatment at the spa. Whatever you choose, it will all be enjoyed between included gourmet meals at the ship's superb selection of speciality restaurants.

Day 12
Aomori, Japan

Aomori the capital of the northernmost prefecture on Japan's main island of Honshu. Peaceful, laid back and with a delightful harbour, it's a wonderful spot for a day's people watching. You might choose to visit the triangular Aspam Tourism Centre, whose observation deck offers spectacular views of the harbour and city. Otherwise, the wide open spaces of Hokkaido are just a short hop north across the water.
