Sail aboard HANSEATIC inspiration on this epic new voyage between Bridgetown in Barbados to Lima, Peru. You’ll start in the idyllic Venezuelan archipelago of Islas Los Roques, whose azure waters and powder-white beaches share the headlines with Kralendijk’s picturesque boulevards and colourful houses, and wildlife including hummingbirds, iguanas and flamingos. You’ll then sail on to Cartagena in Colombia before landing at the untouched San Blas Islands – a trip highlight. It’s then on through the legendary Panama Canal to pass barren prairies and dense forests, finally arriving amid the lush verdure of the remote Darien jungle. Explore settlements of the Embera Indians before sailing to Colombia’s Utria National Park, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Your voyage ends with the Isla Lobos de Tierra, where you’ll spot the likes of pelicans and blue-footed boobies, before arriving into Lima and your journeys end.

 Cartagena is known as South America’s most beautiful colonial city, and was immortalised in 'Love in the Time of Cholera' by Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez. Thriving and perfectly formed, historic Cartagena presents an old town that has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a carriage ride through Cartagena and marvel at its magnificent palaces in the Andalusian style, buildings adorned with flowers and numerous churches.

Gulf of San Miguel

Arriving on the Pacific side, the HANSEATIC inspiration heads for the lush, green backdrop of the Darien jungle in the Gulf of San Miguel. This region, declared a national park in 1981, is a protected space for many native peoples; it spans 579,000 ha (1,430,740 ac.) and is also part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Isla Lobos de Tierra, Peru

Peru offers invigorating natural experiences on one of its beautiful rocky islands - Isla Lobos de Tierra. The island’s name, which translates as “island of the land wolves”, was inspired by its enormous population of sea lions. Much smaller examples of its fantastic fauna include pelicans and blue-footed boobies, their vibrant blue feet lending them an extremely charming look. After an afternoon surrounded by the hubbub of the wildlife and impressive scenery wherever you look, you will board the ship and head out onto the vast ocean. As the HANSEATIC inspiration sets a southerly course, you will enjoy unique impressions of the South American Pacific coast.
