Discover Corsica's wild coastlines and ancient villages on this week-long, luxury cruise. Begin in the capital of the French Riviera, Nice, where you'll board Ponant's Le Bougainville – with a maximum of just 184 guests and a luxury yacht-like atmosphere, you can expect attentive, personalised service throughout. Then, the next few days will see you anchor in to postcard-perfect views and rugged archipelagos along Corsica's coastline, including a stop at Bonifacio, whose medieval clifftop citadel and stunning Lavezzi Islands views has earned it an accolade as 'the jewel of Corsica'. There’s plenty of time for beach relaxation, too, as well as adventures in the water, from diving in sea caves to Zodiac rides with expert naturalist guides and snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding, keeping an eye out for bottlenose dolphins, rorquals and pilot whales. Return each day to the sleek suites and stylish lounges on board the ship, alongside expert lectures, pool decks, a luxury spa and fine French gastronomy.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1
UK to Nice

Begin your trip in style with included VIP airport lounge access before flying from the UK to Nice, the stylish capital of the French Riviera. On arrival, transfer to the port to board Le Bougainville. Ponant – the only French cruise line – prides itself on its French cuisine, attentive service and destination expertise, and after settling in to your sleek suite – all floor-to-ceiling windows and stylish furnishings – you'll experience it first-hand with the first of your included, gourmet dinners. Expect only the finest in French gastronomy – think lobster and langoustines – complemented by a sommelier-picked wine from the sprawling cellar.  Alternatively, the relaxed pool grill offers only the finest cuts of meat, served al fresco by the pool deck.

Day 2

After a breakfast of freshly-made Lenôtre pastries, waffles, detox juices and more, you'll sail to your first stop in Corsica, Saint-Florent. This ancient Genoese city offers white-sand beaches framed by crystal-clear waters, as well as fascinating 16th century architecture, including the famous Tower of Mortella. Be sure to make time to explore on board, too, whether you want to attend an expert lecture, indulge in a massage at the luxe spa or relax by the pool.

Day 3

Anchor in to town of Bonifacio today, on the southernmost tip of Corsica. All cobblestone streets, ancient villages and medieval features – alongside numerous beaches – we'd highly recommend an excursion to the area's marine caves today, for panoramic views of the area's famous citadel before heading to the caves, dotted with falcons, puffins and swifts. Continue on to the marine wildlife and plant sanctuary of the Lavezzi Islands, which make up one of Corsica’s two marine reserves, with time at leisure to swim and relax on the beach.

Stay: Le Bougainville

Day 4

Sail to Santa-Manza today with its sandy beaches and turquoise waters, with plenty of time for swimming, snorkelling and paddle boarding. Back on board, why not head to the Grand Salon this evening for a classical concert, or dance performance at the spectacular Theatre?

Stay: Le Bougainville

Day 5

The wild coastline of Roccapina is your next stop today, where pine forests line bays of turquoise water and powder-soft beaches, dotted with dramatic rocky peaks. Explore with a guided walking tour before heading back on board to relax with a cocktail on the sun deck and by the pool bar.

Stay: Le Bougainville

Day 6
Parata Peninsula & the Sanguinaires Islands

A trip highlight, today you'll anchor in to Pointe de la Parata, a rocky headland filled with verdant walking trails, wildflowers and magnificent views of the nearby Sanguinaires Islands. You'll also have the chance to explore the Sanguinaires archipelago, made up of four rocky volcanic islands dotted with Genoese towers, 14th century ruins and huge colonies of marine birds, like the yellow-legged gull and European shag. Explore with birdwatching tours, walking trails and Zodiac trips with Ponant's expert naturalists. Then, perhaps enjoy afternoon tea on board before a pre-dinner cocktail at the 'underwater' Blue Eye lounge and another fine-dining menu at the contemporary French brasserie-style restaurant on board.

Stay: Le Bougainville

Meals: B L D

Day 7

Your penultimate stop sees you explore Calvi today, capital of the Balagne region. Highlights include the Notre-Dame-de-la-Serra chapel and miles of sandy beaches framed by mountain peaks. We'd highly recommend a tour of the old villages, where you'll pass winding roads to reach tiny, picturesque towns, pausing at a donkey-driven olive oil mill – complete with an olive oil tasting – as well as Col de Salvi and Cateri's cobblestone streets and flower-lined houses. Later, toast your last night on board with a cocktail in the lounge before your final gourmet, three-course dinner.

Stay: Le Bougainville
