Day 3
Buenos Aires to Ushuaia

After breakfast, an internal flight – bookended by included transfers – will see you down to Ushuaia, the ‘City at the End of the World’. Sandwiched between sea and mountains, it’s a true frontier town that tumbles down towards the shore. It’s also where you’ll board the ultra-luxurious Scenic Eclipse to a captain’s cocktail reception. Settling in to your butler-served Veranda Suite, you’ll also be treated to a full programme of all-inclusive luxury, with fine wines and cocktails accompanying everything from poolside grills and sushi bars to tasting menus and champagne-matched French cuisine. You’ll also have today to acquaint yourself with the ship’s superb array of facilities, ranging from the library and theatre to a fully equipped fitness centre, full spread of pools and a superb spa. But, if you don’t fancy the yoga and Pilates, you can always simply relax in your suite, choosing from the pillow menu or making use of your personal butler. You’ll be well looked after, whether it’s a shoeshine service, a complimentary minibar top-up or an included 24-hour menu of gourmet drinks and dining.

Days 5-9
Antarctic Peninsula

As icebergs and snow-capped mountains loom large on the horizon, you’ll arrive into the Antarctic Peninsula, your captain plotting a flexible route to take full advantage of conditions. Here, the expert Discovery Team will see you snowshoe across frozen landscapes, cruise on Zodiacs around dramatic ice formations, and step onto islands to view penguin and sea lion colonies. There’s also the chance to send a postcard from remote Port Lockroy and kayak around icebergs, ears listening out to their mighty cracks. As you go, be sure to keep an eye out for the region’s minke, killer and humpback whales, with up-close encounters highly likely. But, for something truly special, book onto an optional helicopter or submarine excursion.

Days 10-11
At Sea

Back at sea, you’ll relax on board, perhaps stopping off at the theatre to enjoy everything from concerts and movies to performances and presentations. The latter are particularly interesting, with your Expedition Team providing a fascinating insight into the Antarctic’s wildlife, formation and adventurers’ history.

Days 12-15
South Georgia

South Georgia is an archipelago of wild beauty. Here, mountains are carved by still-standing glaciers and the dramatic shoreline is battered by looming icebergs. Again, your captain will decide on the best route, with highlights including Salisbury Plain’s 500,000-strong colony of penguins, watched over by giant elephant seals. There are also countless fur seals to spot, alongside the impossibly adorable gentoo penguins, before a visit to the final resting place of Shackleton – a former whaling station known as Grytviken. Throughout, you’ll enjoy what is the broadest range of discovery excursions available, from kayaks to Zodiacs to snowshoes and a submarine.

Days 16-17
At Sea

With two days at sea, you’ll have plenty of time to taste your way through the dining options available. Enjoy yacht-club ambience, private meals at an open Teppanyaki grill and steak and seafood at the Italian restaurant. There are even pan-Asian delicacies paired with a sake bar. It’s all dished up to just 200 guests, served by a near 1:1 staff ratio.

Days 18-19
The Falkland Islands

Your first port of call in the Falklands is Stanley, the islands’ capital. Like Ushuaia before it, there’s something of the end of the world here, with colourful houses spilling towards a shimmering shoreline. You’ll learn about its intriguing history with a guided walk, town e-bike ride and museum visit, or with a tour of its infamous battlefields. Alternatively, a walk to Gypsy Cove will bring you onto penguin-dotted white sand. However, the best wildlife viewing is saved for the next day on Saunders Island. Here, you’ll witness a great colony of king penguins.

Your three last days at sea are the perfect relaxing end to your exploratory cruise, the chance to enjoy complimentary cocktails and fine wines in the yacht-club ambience. There are also always the live-streaming TV and verdandah views of your luxury suite.
