This is a true trip of wonders, taking in the city greats of Rio and Buenos Aires either side of a visit to world’s largest waterfalls and an Antarctic sailing aboard the first luxury discovery yacht. On board, just 200 guests enjoy a near 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio, serving up all-inclusive gourmet dining, champagne in open bars and a spread of expert-led touring. Indeed, you’ll enjoy excursions throughout, from kayaking next to icebergs to spotting cutesy penguins. And, you’ll return to butler-served drinks on your suite’s private balcony, perhaps as a whale swims past.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Depart UK

After making the most of your complimentary airport-lounge access, board your overnight flight to Argentina.

Day 2
Buenos Aires

On arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and brought to your hotel to settle into your marble-accented, butler-served room. You might want to rest up with your accommodation’s luxurious facilities or, with one night in the Argentine capital, you may want to explore. A simple stroll through the centre will bring you among the city’s delightful European architecture, best exemplified in the neoclassical cathedral, the fountain-dotted plazas and the grand National Congress of Argentina. Then, lose yourself in the narrow streets of the central neighbourhoods to discover hidden antique shops and wine bars.

Stay: Park Tower Luxury Collection (Deluxe)

Day 3
Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and embarkation

Bookended by included transfers, your flight south will bring you to Ushuaia; perched at the continent’s southern tip, it’s a true frontier town and often termed “the city at the end of the world”. You’ll also be brought aboard your luxury discovery yacht, toasting the start of your voyage with a cocktail reception, hosted by the captain. It’s the chance to meet the expedition team, all experts in the polar regions and their unique wildlife. Then, settling in to your elegant, butler-served suite, you’ll enjoy the Andean views of the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago from your private balcony, perhaps with a drink from your complimentary minibar.

Days 4-5
Cross the Drake Passage

Crossing the Drake Passage to Antarctica, you’ll have two days to acquaint yourself with your ship’s luxurious facilities. Perhaps unwind with a spa treatment, or a dip in one of the pools, before learning about your adventures ahead with a talk in the state-of-the-art theatre. In between, you’ll also be treated to exquisite full-board dining, from Italian classics to contemporary French favourites and Asian-fusion inventions. It’s all washed down in the open bars, where you can enjoy French champagne and vintage single malts. What’s more, as you sail on, you’ll know that you’re getting closer to the Antarctic by the first sightings of icebergs and snow-capped mountains.

Days 6-11
Antarctic Peninsula

Due to the extraordinary nature of the region, your captain will draw on years of polar-sailing experience to decide an itinerary based on the ice and weather conditions. Your route will also make the most of the 18–20 hours of daylight with a full spread of included excursions. You can expect to kayak around icebergs, cruise among dramatic ice formations on Zodiac boats and step onto remote islands to come face to face with seals and giant penguin rookeries.

You’ll also navigate some of the most beautiful waterways, perhaps including the stunning 11-kilometre Lemaire Channel. Here, steep cliffs hem in an iceberg-filled passage that’s just 700 metres wide at its narrowest point. What’s more, you might even cross the Antarctic Circle, while whale sightings and the chance to visit working scientific bases offer further intrigue. If you want to explore further, consider making use of the ship’s helicopter and submarine.

Days 12-13
Cross the Drake Passage

It’s time to return to South America, with two days left to enjoy the ship. Whether it’s the chef’s-table tasting menu, the private teppanyaki grill or the plates of oysters served with a crisp glass of pinot gris, it’s going to be difficult to say goodbye to the all-inclusive meals. There’s even everything from a sushi bar and 24-hour in-suite dining to a poolside grill and a cooking school. Then, perhaps burn off any excess with a visit to the gym or yoga studio, or unwind with a massage.

Day 14
Ushuaia to Buenos Aires

Arriving back on the continent, you’ll enjoy a final gourmet breakfast on board before a transfer sees you to the airport and your flight back to Buenos Aires. You’ll have one more night in the Argentine capital, perhaps to enjoy a memorable evening at a tango hall. Alternatively, indulge in that great Argentine steakhouse tradition, enjoying a fine cut paired with one of the country’s excellent merlots.

Days 15-17
Buenos Aires to Iguazú Falls

After breakfast and an included transfer, you’ll fly north to Iguazú Falls. And, on arrival, you’ll start by exploring the Argentinian side on a series of walkways spread across the top of the falls. The views of the famous "Devil’s Throat" are especially impressive. You’ll then hop over to the Brazilian side for your three-night luxury stay, enjoying views of the falls themselves from its wildlife-filled garden. As South America's only Forbes Five Star hotel, it's even positioned inside the border of the national park, so you’ll be among the first at the falls the next day before you explore further with a jet-boat ride to their base – followed by an included lunch. On your final day, you’ll take in the Parque das Aves and its colourful multitude of rare birds.

Stay: Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, Iguaçu Falls (Deluxe)

Days 18-20
Rio de Janeiro

Your flight across to Rio is bookended by included transfers, bringing you to your luxury hotel. Positioned right on Copacabana's white sands, it's an Art-Deco icon complete with Michelin-starred restaurant and a private beach club. The next day, before an included lunch, you’ll be treated to exclusive access to the Christ the Redeemer, arriving before the public to watch the sunrise over the city. You’ll then enjoy further panoramas at the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain, where spectacular sea views are taken in from one of the world’s oldest cable cars. On your final day, you’ll have a choice of excursions. Expert guides will bring you among the humble charm of a favela district, or the colonial beauty of the Santa Terasa neighbourhood and its famously colourful Selarón Steps. Whatever you choose, it all ends with an included, three-course dinner by way of farewell.
