Days 1-2
UK to Wellington

Enjoy VIP airport lounge access before  your Premium Economy Class flight to Wellington, New Zealand via Singapore, arriving two days later.

Day 3
Wellington, New Zealand

Upon arrival in Wellington, New Zealand, you will be met and transferred by private car to the Intercontinental Hotel for a three-night stay in a Deluxe Room. After checking in, spend the afternoon at leisure. As New Zealand's capital city, there's plenty to do here, from strolling along Sea Bridge to sampling craft beers at one of many hip breweries.

Day 4
Wellington, New Zealand

Today you'll get your bearings and discover the city with a private food tour, exploring Wellington's quirky less-travelled quarters. You'll visit a boutique coffee roastery and café, meeting local, passionate food producers. Enjoy tastings at Wellington's best specialist food stores before enjoying a delicious lunch expertly matched with New Zealand wines or local craft beer at a top Wellington restaurant. In the afternoon, you'll take a private Taonga Maori Tour at Te Papa at New Zealand's national museum, weaving through Maori exhibition spaces and viewing taonga (treasures) up close.

Wellington, New Zealand

Enjoy the morning at leisure, before taking a Workshop Tour inside WETA, the multi-Academy-Award-winning company whose artists and crafts people helped bring to life The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, The Adventures of Tintin, District 9, King Kong and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Join your guide in the newly opened Window into Workshop exhibition space. Filled with props, models and weaponry, as well as explanations of some of the processes used to create these amazing items, you'll have a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the impressive work created within its walls.

Day 6
Wellington to Dunedin

Today, you'll check out of your hotel and take your included private transfer to the airport, ready for your onward flight to Dunedin. On arrival, you will be transferred by private vehicle to the port to embark Silver Explorer. This purpose-built luxury expedition cruise ship was specifically designed for navigating waters in some of the world’s most remote destinations, including the polar regions. A strengthened hull enables Silver Explorer to safely push through ice floes with ease, a fleet of 12 Zodiac boats allows guests to visit even the most off-the-beaten path locations, and an expert Expedition Team provides insight and understanding to your Antarctic adventure.

Day 7
At Sea

Spend today at sea, relaxing and unwinding as you get to know the ship. Perhaps visit the Zagara spa for an inulgent massage, hear a lecture in the Explorers Lounge or head to the upper deck for a spot of bird-watching in the open air. Dine in The Restaurant, enjoying sweeping ocean views, or at The Grill, where you can cook your own dishes on hot stones at the table, before a nightcap in the elegant Conoisseur's Corner.

Days 8-9
Enderby and Auckland Islands

Both Enderby Island and Auckland Island are made up of eroding volcanic remains. Enderby Island is home to the rare yellow-eyed penguin, New Zealand bellbirds and red-crowned parakeets, as well as the southern royal albatross, while Auckland Island has an abundance and diversity of seabirds, including Gibson’s albatross and white-capped mollymawks. It is also the primary breeding ground for the most rare and endangered sea lions in the world, including the New Zealand sea lion. While you're here, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get up close to some of these incredible animals, between gourmet dining and drinks onboard the ship.

Day 10
At Sea

While at sea today, perhaps visit the Boutique shops onboard for some luxury souvenirs. There's also a fitness centre for those who like to stay active, while Tor's Observation Library is a quiet space to read and relax with breathtaking views from the very top of the ship.

Days 11-12
Macquarie Island

World Heritage-listed Macquarie Island is known as Australia’s sub-Antarctic jewel, home to a large variety of wildlife from elephant, leopard and fur seals to penguins. In fact, Macquarie holds a king penguin colony of more than 200,000 pairs, as well as colonies of rockhopper, royal and gentoo penguins, and 72 species of bird. And, since 1948, the Australian Antarctic Division has maintained a permanent base here – the Macquarie Island Station. Your captain and expedition team will decide how your two days here will be spent, to maximise your time on the island.

Days 13-15
At Sea

The next few days are spent at sea, with plenty of time to switch off and enjoy your surroundings. Make the most of your suite accommodation, with private butler service – you can even dine in your room if you wish.

Day 16
Commonwealth Bay and East Antarctica

Today you'll arrive at Commonwealth Bay, site of the headquarters of the Australiasian Antarctic Expedition, established in 1912. This is one of the windiest regions in the world, and the shorelines here are dotted with Adélie penguins, south polar skuas, snow petrels and Wilson’s storm petrels. Depending on the weather and ice conditions, you'll explore the coast with your Expedition Team by Zodiac boat.

Day 17
Dumont D'urville Station

Today you'll visit Adélie Land, claimed by France in 1840, and not far from Commonwealth Bay. The year-round Dumont D’Urville station further west is home to up to 100 staff and scientists at any time. If weather conditions and permits are in order, a visit to the research station will be organised for Silver Explorer guests.

Days 18-20
East Antarctica and Ross Sea

Today you'll sail the Ross Sea, named in honour of the British explorer James Clark Ross, who tried to reach the south magnetic pole in 1841. As the Ross Sea is relatively ice-free, several attempts to reach the South Pole were made via this route by Scott, Shackleton and Amundsen. Among a number of historical huts and modern scientific stations along the Ross Ice Shelf, Cape Adare is the site of the first hut built in Antarctica.

Days 21-24
At Sea

Today you'll farewell the icy wilds of Antarctica as you sail back towards New Zealand. Over the next few days, you'll have plenty of time to reflect on your journey to the edge of the world, whale-watching from the open decks by day and enjoying drinks and dinner each evening as the sun sets.

Day 25
Campbell Island

This morning you'll arrive at New Zealand's southernmost sovereign territory, 700 kilometres southeast of the South Island. Your Expeditions Team will take you by Zodiac boat to land ashore, where a World Heritage-listed nature reserve awaits. The island is home to a myriad of unique and beautiful flora and fauna, protected by the Department of Conservation.

Day 26
At Sea

Your sea day today is an ideal time to rejuvenate your mind and body with a luxury treatment in the Zagara Spa – perhaps a facial or a body wrap. Tonight, listen to the pianist in the Panorama Lounge after a multi-course dinner in The Restaurant.

Day 27
Ulva Island & Stewart Island

This morning you'll arrive at Ulva Island, a world-renowned open bird sanctuary. In small groups of no more than 12 guests, you'll be led on a walking tour through the forest by expert local guides. As Ulva has no invasive species, you'll see only endemic plants and birdlife as you explore this peaceful paradise. Then, to gain an insight into New Zealand’s southernmost community, you'll be able to explore Oban and the surrounding bays of Stewart Island at your own pace.

Days 28-29
Dunedin to UK

After a final delicious breakfast onboard, you'll disembark Silver Explorer and take your included private transfer to the airport. Enjoy VIP lounge access before your onward flight in Premium Economy to the UK via Auckland, arriving the following day.
