An intimate boutique hotel in Australia's idyllic northwest
Beach | Relaxation
This former Master Pearler’s home has been transformed into a luxury boutique hotel, full of understated elegance and old-world charm, located in the idyllic outpost of Broome, along aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean to its fore and the wetlands of the Kimberley wilderness behind it.
Broome is something of an idyllic outpost. Pearls are still farmed off the shores of Cable Beach – its 22 kilometres of golden sands playing host to magnificent sunsets. Within this setting is Pinctada McAlpine House, situated in the town’s sleepy backstreets meaning uninterrupted relaxation in any of the house’s many nooks.
The eight guestrooms are cosy and comfortable, the décor reflecting the colours and textures of the Kimberley. Look to bamboo furniture, Aboriginal art and light open spaces for a taste of Broome’s beach paradise. Historically, Broome has hosted swathes of Japanese, Chinese and Malay divers in search of its pearl treasures – all of which have left their mark on this charming beach-town and the house’s interior. Step into the modern day with LCD TVs and high speed wireless connectivity.
Your nightly tariff is inclusive of a tropical continental breakfast, served daily from 7.30am in the house’s dining room. You can also treat yourself to a step back to a time more civilized with afternoon tea served accompanied by a selection of delicious bites. For dinner, you’ll head out to one of Broome’s restaurants. After becoming home for so many different nationalities, the town now has an excellent range of eateries with a variety of cuisines that reach far beyond its borders.
Along with the intimate gardens and latticed verandahs, the staff, reached by a one-touch button in your room, make your stay at Pinctada McAlpine House as comfortable as possible. Relax with a good book in the Chinese Tea House and be delighted by the exotic parrot aviary as your enveloped by the hotel’s rich ambience. Take a dip in the hotel’s pool before wandering down to Cable Beach to hunt out a seafront restaurant.
