Location
The Rocks, as it is locally known, is a meeting point of old and new with sandstone buildings of historic Sydney rubbing shoulders with the shimmering architectural thrust of the opera house. Best explored by foot, there are fantastic harbour walks to be had while the area transforms into a vibrant restaurant and bar scene in the evening. The city’s central district is only a short walk away.
Accommodation
The hotel sits on the waterfront itself and, lying low, fosters an intimate atmosphere. 155 guestrooms and suites feature contemporary design, a private butler service and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto private balconies. Expect high-end Bose music systems, morning papers and marble baths. Guests can opt for either the Opera View rooms or City Harbour Deluxe Rooms for specific views of the local sights while suites offer open plan living in penthouse locations. Specially commissioned paintings and artwork by prominent Australian artists are on display throughout the hotel and its rooms.
Dining
The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Dining Room, brings seasonal Australian produce to excellent contemporary French cuisine. A tailored tasting menu provides an introduction to a variety of dishes designed by executive chef, Franck Detrait. A range of Australian and international wines are selected by Park Hyatt Sydney’s sommelier, Filippo L’episcopo. For those looking for a more relaxed setting, The Living Room serves light meals in a waterside location. Highlights include the champagne afternoon tea and the “healthy balance” menu.
Facilities
Outside of your room, there’s a day spa with a range of treatments including Aboriginal clay and hot oil massages and a salon with a variety of beauty treatments. The hotel’s rooftop pool and sun terrace offer superb views of the harbour and along the water to the city’s iconic bridge. A complimentary fitness centre, exclusively for in-house guests, has a wide range of the latest in cardio and strength equipment. Park Hyatt Sydney also puts on a range of early morning activities including a fitness circuit, a morning jog around Sydney Harbour and the Royal Botanical Gardens and a Vinyasa yoga class.
