One of Sydney's most unique hotels, located in Darling Harbour
Located in Darling Harbour, the hotel is a street away from the area’s main dining and shopping district, resulting in both accessibility and privacy. There’s a range of transport available with a light rail station just 250m away, boats departing from nearby piers and buses running regularly. However, Darling Harbour is best seen by foot and many attractions and harbourside walks are accessible by walking. It’s roughly a 20 minute cab ride from the airport.
The hotel’s standout attraction is its individually designed rooms. Sweeping colours give way to exposed brickwork giving 1888 a truly boutique style. Take full advantage of a free mini-bar and snacks while using the in-room iPad on the hotel’s high speed WiFi. The en suite walk-in rainforest showers are an excellent way to freshen up after a day in the Australian heat. Upgrade to a split-level room or a penthouse suite for panoramic city views and a sun-drenched rooftop patio. Please note, we only recommend booking King Deluxe rooms or higher.
European style breakfasts are included with a selection of muffins, pastries and juices to start the day off. Later in the day, the hotel puts on a variety of sharing platters but head outside if you’re in search of something more substantial. Thankfully, Darling Harbour is something of a restaurant hub so you won’t have to go far with a variety of dining options and cuisines on your doorstep. Don’t forget the complimentary in-room drinks and snacks.
Ovolo 1888’s hub comes in the form of its signature Lo Lounge. Easy chairs and sofas provide a relaxed setting for the hotel’s daily 5-7pm happy hour where the staff put on free drinks and canapés. It’s the perfect opportunity to socialise with other guests and swap travel stories and tips. The hotel also provides free access to nearby Snap Fitness. This 24-hour gym has personal trainers on hand and a great range of equipment to suit all needs.
