Location
The Barossa Valley is one of Australia’s premier wine producing regions and is a charming patchwork of rolling hills, quaint country towns and superb famers’ markets. Kingsford Homestead is set on the North Para River on the Barossa’s western edge and iconic wineries such as Peter Lehmann, Penfolds and Yalumba just a 10 minute drive away. The drive from Adelaide takes under an hour.
Accommodation
There are seven suites including a self contained cottage, five are on the upper level, one on the lower level and the Stonemason’s Cottage, which sits just to the rear of the homestead. Each suite is named after the former owners and offer contemporary style, luxury and elegance in abundance.
Dining
Drinks and canapes are served each evening on the verandah (weather permitting) where you’ll enjoy sun downers as the kangaroos come out to graze. A regional continental breakfast is served each morning featuring plenty of local goodies and there are some excellent restaurants close by.
Facilities
For a real treat indulge in a bush bath, a signature experience, set in a tucked away corner of the property, it’s custom made for two and a bottle of something bubbly wouldn’t go amiss. There’s also a guest lounge with an open fire and comfy sofas, an atmospheric wine cellar and an open air swimming pool, perfect for a cooling dip after a day exploring the vineyards and cellar doors. When it comes to exploring, you can enjoy a guided chauffeur driven tour, follow your nose (and a map) around the many wineries or perhaps hop on two wheels for a cycle tour through the valley. A blend your own wine tour at Penfolds is a must-do but make sure you book well in advance.
