Boutique beachside hideaways on the Mornington Peninsula
About
Recommended for:
Beach | Honeymoon | Off the beaten track | Wildlife
This is a secluded, romantic retreat of just 3 charming hideaways on a deserted beach an hour from the bright city lights of Melbourne. Big Blue Backyard is quite unlike any other hotel stay and you can expect high levels of un-intrusive service, privacy and an enviable location just a short stroll from St Andrews Beach.
Location
Big Blue Backyard is located on the Mornington Peninsula, close to secluded St Andrews Beach and just under an hour’s drive from Melbourne. You can be as active or as lazy as you like but there are a multitude of attractions on the peninsula and our advice would definitely be to explore. There are wineries in abundance, local craft brewers, chocolatiers and you can even enjoy a winery tour on horse back.
Accommodation
Big Blue Backyard offers three individual and private retreats. The African Hideaway features vibrant colours and striking textures and is a tribute to your host’s time spent travelling through the country. There is a comfy king size bed, rainwater shower and outside on the deck a spa bath and a mini bar replenished daily with Mornington Peninsula wines, fresh coffee and tea and homemade biscuits. The Beach Hideaway is light and airy with sea glass and driftwood furnishings, an over size king bed and a private deck overlooking coastal bush. There is an outdoor shower on the deck and an indoor spa bath. The Bush Hideaway honours the beautiful Australian bush and has an open plan design with wet room and two private decks, one with an outdoor spa bath.
Dining
Breakfast provisions are provided featuring fresh local produce and left in the fridge for you to enjoy at a time that suits you. Dinner is available daily and is served as a sharing meal in the privacy of your hideaway, alternatively there are many dining options close by.
Facilities
This is a very quiet and tranquil spot with just three retreats; the attractions of the Mornington Peninsula are however close at hand. St Andrews beach is very often deserted and just a 5 minute stroll from Big Blue Backyard. You can also swim with the Australian fur seals and dolphins in Port Phillip Bay, explore Port Nepean National Park at the very tip of the peninsula and perhaps indulge in a relaxing bathing session at the Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs.
