Location
Just a 10-minute drive from the bustling city centre of Siem Reap and 15 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor, Anantara Angkor Resort is perfectly positioned for exploring Cambodia’s most renowned temple complex. Built in the style of a grand Khmer villa, centered around an inner courtyard and pool, it offers a haven of serenity and seclusion, with an aesthetic that brings together regal elegance and contemporary luxury.
Accommodation
There are only 39 suites in total, ensuring a calm and intimate ambience throughout the resort. They each feature traditional Khmer decor and design elements including elegant silks, teak flooring and intricate carvings inspired by Angkor Wat. Some have a balcony or terrace overlooking the pool and gardens, while others have the added privilege of a spacious living room, a complimentary mini bar, a Jacuzzi or a private plunge pool.
Dining
The signature restaurant, Chi, offers an innovative take on traditional Khmer cuisine, infusing classic flavours with a modern twist, including dishes that use products freshly harvested from the chef’s garden. These include the likes of fragrant curries, noodle and wok dishes and aromatic soups, as well as international fare including wood-fired pizzas, pasta dishes and burgers. This is also the setting for delicious breakfasts, featuring a bountiful selection of continental and cooked options, including cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cheeses, cold cuts and a wide variety of egg dishes.
Refreshing fruit juices, local craft beers, wines and light bites are served at the poolside Salt terrace bar, while Road 6 prides itself on crafting exquisite cocktails alongside a plentiful range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The resort also offers cooking masterclasses, in which you’ll visit a local market to buy fresh produce before learning the techniques and flavour combinations that go into making traditional local dishes.
Facilities
At the centre of the resort is an 18-metre-long outdoor saltwater pool flanked by sun loungers, umbrellas and palm trees – the perfect relaxation spot when you’re not out and about exploring. You’ll also want to make the most of the fabulous Anantara Spa, where you can make use of a sauna, a steam room and a Jacuzzi and indulge in rejuvenating wellness treatments inspired by Khmer healing philosophies. The resort also offers a range of bookable excursions, including a Siem Reap street food tour by Vespa, hot-air balloon rides and quad biking in the nearby countryside.
