Yangtze River cruises

The Yangtze, the world's third-longest river starts its slow sweep towards the East China Sea in the mountains above Tibet, before flowing to its mouth near Shanghai in China.

Travelling the length of the Yangtze is usually not practical but the jounrey downstream from Chongqing to Yichang is considered one of the great river cruises of the world and one of travels must-do, essential trips.

Explore Snow Jade Cave, tour 12-storey temples and discover the spectacular Three Gorges, where imposing limestone cliffs loom 1,200m above the water. Qutang is the shortest gorge but possibly the most impressive; Wu Gorge is jagged and full of dangerous rock faces whilst Xiling is the site of the controversial Three Gorges Dam, where an enormous hydroelectric project plugs the river.

Tailor your Yangtze River cruise by adding a city stay in Beijing or Shanghai before or after you sail to take in the cultural highlights in the rest of China.
