Central France

Central France holidays

Introduction

Central France is the geographical and political heart of the country. Here you'll find the glorious capital of Paris, and some of France's former royalty's most glamorous and outrageous châteaux. The Loire Valley, perhaps one of the most iconic and magnificent rural areas of this beautiful country, bends its way through the region - vineyards and rustically elegant farmyards following its path.

Central France also has a few surprises in store. The first is Limousin, a sparsely populated region where sweeping farmland, rolling hills and Limousin cattle dominate. Then there's the Auvergne region, which also offers something new - it's the largest dormant volcanic region in Europe. All of these attractions and more besides are easy to reach from the UK and diverse to the last - making Central France a great addition to a tailor-made holiday France holiday.

Poitou-Charentes is a region of France situated half way down the Atlantic coast. A largely rural area, Poitou's agriculture is based primarily around wheat, maize and sunflower fields. In Charente, miles of vineyards take advantage of the fertile banks of the River Charente.

Centre-Val de Loire

The Centre-Val de Loire region of France is home to one of the country's most iconic areas, the Loire Valley. Defined by the river that passes through it, the Loire Valley is known for its grand châteaux, sleepy one-shop villages, market towns and the sweeping agricultural flats which produce great…
