Day 1
UK to Sydney, Australia

After beginning your trip in style with complimentary VIP airport lounge access, board your overnight flight to Sydney.

Day 2

Arrive in Australia's most iconic city on the evening of day two and transfer to your hotel in the central Rocks precinct, just a stone's throw from Sydney Harbour Bridge and the famous Sydney Opera House.

Day 3

Take some time to explore Sydney’s delights, from its idyllic Bondi and Bronte beaches to its famous harbour, home to the iconic Opera House and Bridge, both of which are unmissable sights. Then, this aftenoon, it’s time to head to your home for the next 14 days, the spectacular Holland America MS Noordam cruise ship, whose contemporary decor is contrasted with museum artefacts from the 19th century alongside opulent bars and sprawling restaurants. Settle in to your 'veranda' suite, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, a private veranda/balcony and massage bath tub. Make sure you're up on deck as you sail away from Sydney's world-class gems, then tonight perhaps sample the delights of ship’s main restaurant, The Dining Room, where you can expect the likes of boneless lamb loin en croute, bucatini with duck and rockfish with garlic clams alongside expertly curated wines.

At sea

Today is free to explore the delights of the ship. Perhaps rejuvenate with a Pilates class or take a dip in one of the two outdoor swimming pools. Then, tonight, experience the spectacular BBC Earth programme, where a concert, films and trivia are displayed in an immersive experience that brings you closer to natural world. Then, perhaps indulge at Rudi's Sel De Mer, featuring classic French dishes with a contemporary twist; delicacies include whole Dover sole meunière with pink Himalayan sea salt, oysters on the half shell and salt-crust baked branzino.

Day 5
Melbourne, Australia

Today sees you sail into Melbourne, all cutting-edge art galleries, museums and a boundless variety of gastronomy. Explore the delights of Collins Street, where grandiose Victorian architecture lies alongside high-end boutiques, contrasted with Chinatown and the Greek Quarter’s buzzing laneways. There’s a whole range of excursions easily organised from onboard the ship, such as tasting the likes of Shiraz and Pinot Noir in the Yarra Valley and visiting local wineries in the spectacular Dandenong Ranges. Or, experience the thrill of seeing native animals in the wild as you wander through Australian bushland spotting koala, wombat, kangaroos and platypus, venturing into the You Yang Ranges National Park.

Day 6
At sea

You’ve got another day at sea today to explore all that the ship has to offer. Be sure to head to the Explorations Central programme, discovering the region through talks and encounters that explore the ‘connections that unite us across borders and cultures’ to enhance your travel experience. Then, this evening, perhaps try dinner at The Culinary Arts Centre, enjoying American classics with a contemporary flair, from harissa Parmesan fries and glazed chicken wings to seafood paella. It’s the perfect prelude to a night with B.B. King's All Stars, who bring Memphis soul music to the ship's stage, best enjoyed alongside specialty cocktails.

Day 7
Tasmania, Australia

Arrive in Tasmania this morning for your final Australian sojourn, where old growth forests and rugged national parks lie alongside a picturesque harbour dwarfed by imposing Mount Wellington. Explore Battery Point's quaint lanes, one of Hobart’s oldest areas, or perhaps head on a Port Arthur historic site visit, the famous former prison situated around Mason Cove. Then, head to the Huon Valley for a forest walk in Tahune, driving along Hobart's stunning waterfront and up Mount Nelson for spectacular valley vistas, heading on the treetop canopy walk among the serene eucalyptus forest.

Days 8-9
At sea

Over the next two days, be sure to experience America’s Test Kitchen’s live onboard cooking shows and hands-on workshops and create your own delicacies. Then, perhaps go boutique shopping before an evening at Canletto, featuring Italian classics, or Tamarind for flavours of Southeast Asia, offering delights such as wok-seared lobster, barramundi in banana leaf and sushi. It’s a wonderful prelude to a glass of New Zealand wine or an expertly-mixed cocktail in the opulent Explorer’s Lounge, before perhaps a few games in the casino, helped by professionals who are happy to guide you.

Day 10
Milford Sound/Fiordland, New Zealand

Today sees you arrive in New Zealand and its otherworldly landscapes. You’ll sail the epic Milford Sound, surrounded by verdant slopes and enormous snow-topped zeniths before it narrows and you head into the epic Fiordland National Park. You'll pass mountains, lakes and rainforests among, hopefully, seals, dolphins and whales. We recommend a Milford Sound overnight tour where you'll travel to Dunedin and take in the stunning scenery, such as the picturesque Homer Tunnel and forest-clad Eglington Valley, also enjoying a farm tour and wine tasting.

Day 11
Port Chalmers, Dunedin, New Zealand

Sailing into the city of Dunedin today you’ll feel a distinct Scottish ambience, where hilly landscapes and one of the world's steepest streets lie against a picturesque harbour and grandiose Victorian buildings. Explore the spectacular Dunedin Railway Station and imposing Larnach Castle, or head just outside the city to the Otago Peninsula for endless beaches. Perhaps take a ride on the Taieri Gorge Railway and go back to Victorian times, travelling through the city across verdant plains and over deep gorges.

Day 12
Akaroa, Christchurch, New Zealand

Sail into Akaroa today, sheltered by the crater of an extinct volcano and speckled with tiny hidden bays filled with biodiversity, including huge numbers of penguins. Perhaps head on a sheep farm tour on Banks Peninsula’s rugged coast, enjoying an expert sheep-shearing demonstration and an insight into life on traditional sheep farms. Or, enjoy a cooking class with Akaroa Cooking School for ultra-fresh seafood, learning how to source fresh seafood and many different cooking techniques; each dish matched with award-winning local wines. A nature cruise is a fabulous way to immerse yourself in the surrounds on the stunning Akaroa harbour, an enormous natural bay. You'll learn about marine life and geology as you cruise the spectacular inlet, a highlight being Cathedral Cave, all soaring sea walls teeming with sea birds alongside fur seals and the smallest oceanic dolphin the world.

Day 13
Picton, New Zealand

Reaching the north of the South Island today sees you reach the charming port town of Picton and your base to explore the famous Marlborough, whose vineyards are world-renowned. Sail the Queen Charlotte Sound to the wine country and hike the Queen Charlotte Track, New Zealand’s greatest coastal cycleway. Don't miss a taste of the region's famous green mussels and a winery tour from Picton, travelling through the rich farmlands of the Koromiko Valley to Blenheim, the main town of the Marlborough province, showcasing acclaimed wines from three different vineyards.

Day 14
Wellington, New Zealand

The stunning harbours, fresh seafood and Maori history of New Zealand's capital make it a fantastic city to spend a day in. Film fans should head on a Lord of the Rings tour, visiting locations featured in the film trilogy, including the picturesque forest of the Shire and a visit to Weta Studios, the film studio. There's also the chance to head on a seal coast safari, offering a fantastic view of the rugged South Coast teeming with seal colonies at Tongue Point, and visiting the famous Leaning Lighthouse, traversing around the rocky bays and black-sand beaches of Wellington.

Day 15
Napier, New Zealand

The Art Deco city of Napier awaits today, home to the country's oldest wineries including the Mission Estate, founded in 1858 by French Catholic missionaries. Stroll along rolling vineyards edged by pristine waters, perhaps heading to Hawke’s Bay's wineries, second only to Marlborough, for tastings of their vintages, with Chardonnay and Merlot particularly notable. Or, perhaps head to the Tuki Tuki valley for stunning countryside and pine tree forests, visiting a sheep farm and taking in the Tuki Tuki Valley as you drive up to the summit of Te Mata Peak, affording panoramic vistas.

Day 16
Tauranga, Rotorua, New Zealand

Today sees you sail into the Bay of Plenty, renowned for its white-sand beaches and marine volcanoes, with Tauranga home to Te Puke, an area filled with Maori cultural sites. The geothermal wonderland of Rotorua is a must visit, where you'll drive through kiwifruit country, enjoy a Maori concert and walk through Rotorua’s geothermal reserve, past boiling mud pools and geysers. There's also the chance to head on a Bay of Plenty tour to meet a Maori family, take the gondola up to Skyline Rotoruaat at the top of Mount Ngongotaha, or head on a boat ride through the unforgettable glowworm caves of Waitomo.

Auckland to UK

Disembark at Auckland today, perhaps taking the chance to head to one of the many art galleries or winery tours before heading to the airport for your flight back to UK, arriving on day 18.
