All-inclusive | Expedition cruise | Natural world | Ocean cruise | Off the beaten track | Wildlife
From India’s remote Andaman islands to Myanmar’s unexplored archipelago, this off-the-beaten-track voyage is a once-in-a-lifetime exploration of some of Asia’s most unique destinations. From among Sri Lanka’s elephant-dotted national parks and iconic temples you’ll sail to Myanmar’s virtually-unknown Mergui archipelago, where stilted fishermen houses lie alongside powder-fine beaches and turquoise waters. The adventure ends with a life-affirming visit to Indonesia’s Gunung Leuser National Park, where you’re almost guaranteed to spot orangutans. To explore it all there are myriad included shore excursions – new to Silversea for their 2022/23 departures – from Zodiac trips among remote shores to turtle-spotting from kayaks – returning each day to the renowned delights of Silversea's Silver Explorer. Designed specifically for navigating waters in some of the world’s most remote destinations, you'll revel in some of the most spacious suites in cruising, alongside private butler service, private verandas, fine dining and expert lectures.

Galle & Hambantota
Begin today by exploring Galle's perfectly-preserved Old Town – the world-heritage listed Galle Fort a must-visit – as well as its Dutch-colonial architecture and Moorish Arab quarter, before sailing to the colourful city of Hambantota. Here, local bazaars and storied architecture await, but it's what lies beyond that's the real highlight, including the famed Yala National Park. Home to wildlife that ranges from leopards to birds, it's here you'll enjoy an included game drive among the ancient Buddhist monasteries and caves before brunch in the forest. Nearby Udawalawe National Park has its fair share, too, particularly elephants, who trudge over the open, savannah-like grasslands alongside buffalo and monkeys.

Trincomalee & Sigiriya Rock
Sail to Sri Lanka's northern coastline today to explore Trincolamlee's clifftop temples, coastal stretches and local fish markets. We recommend taking advantage of one of the many excursions included in your cruise, all of which are organised directly from the ship. Trincomalee's crowning glory is Sigiriya, or the Rock Fortress, a dramatic rocky outcrop that dominates the landscape, with a tough hike up its walls affording you incredible views. For those who’d prefer something less strenuous there's the chance to visit UNESCO World Heritage-listed Polonnaruwa's palace ruins and temples, or Anuradhapura, once home to hundreds of kings and monks.

Andaman Islands, India
Hop from beach to beach over the next couple of days as you explore the jewel of India’s coast: the forest-carpeted, powdery-sand islands known as the Andamans. You'll uncover the area's diverse wildlife, from elephants and birds to marine life hidden among the coral reef, as well as exploring the famous Long Island’s tropical forests and white-sand beaches dotted with turtles, with included snorkelling or birdwatching excursions on offer. For history buffs, there's the chance to take a guided tour of the infamous prison at Port Blair and visit the Anthropological Museum to discover more about the four local tribes of the Andaman Islands and talk to a renowned anthropologist.

Mergui Archipelago
The next two days are a once-in-a-lifetime chance to discover Myanmar’s unexplored, tropical islands in the Mergui Archipelago. Home to impossibly bright coral reefs, fisherman huts and mangrove-lined shores, the area's rich biodiversity means wild animals like monkeys and eagles roam its shores. With over 50 white-sand beaches to explore, take advantage of everything from snorkelling and bird watching to jungle hikes and Zodiac cruises past tiny villages. A highlight is tiny Frost Island, where you'll have the chance to meet the only humans who live in the area and observe their unique way of life. Your last stop is the aptly-named Shark Island – home to docile nurse and reef sharks – where kayak trips along the coastline will see you spot leatherback, green and hawksbill sea turtles as well as the chance to go snorkelling and diving in the area's famous 'Shark Cave'.

Orangutans at Gunung Leuser National Park, Sumatra, Indonesia
Your penultimate stop, Sumatra’s Gunung Leuser National Park, is undoubtedly a trip highlight. This vast landscape is home to over 3000 square miles of tropical rainforests, lakes and rivers, bursting with diversity that's earned it its accolade as a UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve site. With over 350 species of birds and animals like the incredibly rare Sumatran elephant, Sumatran tiger, Sumatran rhino and leopard cat, wildlife sightings are virtually guaranteed. Most iconic of all, though, is surely the endemic orangutan, which you'll spot on walks through the jungle and on your visit to the Bohorok Orangutan Sanctuary, one of the world’s leaders for orangutan observation.
