From Monday 29 October, ICEHOTEL will launch a countdown calendar which will reveal a new art suite that will feature in the twenty-third rendition of the hotel each day.
The content will include the sketches, 3-D animations and descriptions that artists submit to ICEHOTEL when they apply to design a suite, all made available via the company's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
"We experience a great interest in what the hotel will look like each year, and this is of course something we want to share. Social media is a great way to engage with those who take an interest in ICEHOTEL and we look forward to sharing what this winter's hotel will look like with current and future guests," says Maria Sirviö, web editor at ICEHOTEL.
ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi is the world's first and largest hotel made out of ice and snow. Now in its 23rd year, each winter season it has a new design.
The unique art project involves artists from all over the world who design features in the hotel and then sculpt it using only natural ice from the Torne River in Jukkasjärvi.
Around 15 submissions are accepted each year from around 200 applications. Successful applicants are then invited to Jukkasjärvi to help build the ICEHOTEL.
