Cruises from New Orleans can be experienced by holidaymakers all year round aboard the Norwegian Spirit, according to the ship's operator.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced that the 2,018-passenger vessel will be doubling the number of people it takes through the Crescent City from November 2010.
The cruise ship's normal itinerary involves winter journeys between November and April, but it will now be positioned weekly at the Port of New Orleans' Erato Street terminal throughout the year.
Commenting on the decision, chief executive officer of the organisation, Kevin Sheehan, said it was the best way to congratulate New Orleans for being home of the 2010 Super Bowl Champions.
Gary LaGrange, president and chief executive officer of the Port of New Orleans, remarked: "This is a huge vote of confidence for the Port of New Orleans and our city from a company that has been our strategic partner since 2003."
NCL recently announced it will be sailing from Copenhagen for the first time aboard the Norwegian Sun.
