Western Australia a 'great choice'

Article content

20 January 2010

The tourist board for Western Australia has encouraged Brits to travel to the state while the turbulent global economy is not favouring the pound.

Elen Thomas, UK public relations manager for Tourism Western Australia, claimed that the region could be a "great place to visit" thanks to current exchange rates as well as the copious attractions to please a wide range of people.

The area is home to two World Heritage sites - the Shark Bay area, which contains wild dolphins, and the Purnululu National Park, where the distinctive Bungle Bungle Range can be experienced.

"Another great place to visit in Western Australia is the south-west. The area includes miles of pristine coastline from Margaret River," Ms Thomas also explained.

Lonely Planet also recently named the south-west area of Western Australia as one of the top ten regions of the world to visit in 2010, due to the many life-changing experiences available to visitors.
