Taking a holiday in Brazil could be about to get easier with the announcement that US Airways is expanding its number of flights to the country.
According to the organisation, from 15 December it will be introducing trips to Rio de Janeiro from its Charlotte, North Carolina facility as part of a new codeshare agreement with TACA Airlines.
Under the terms of the deal, US Airways passengers will be able to connect to Latin American countries through flights operated by TACA Airlines from hubs in Peru, Costa Rica and El Salvador.
US Airways senior vice-president of marketing and planning Andrew Nocella said: "Our codeshare offerings continue to expand for our customers in 2010, which means more destinations in more countries."
Other locations made more accessible through the arrangement include Costa Rica, Belize and Mexico.
Those visiting South America may wish to stop at the Iguaçú waterfalls, which straddle the border between Brazil and Argentina, after The Times travel journalist Will Hide described them as "mesmerising".
