Heathrow is operating a reduced flight schedule today, Wednesday 22 December, whilst aircraft and crews move back into position.
Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport unless their airline has confirmed they will be able to fly.
More cold weather is forecast and there may be further delays and cancellations.
Heathrow opened its second runway last night, although warned passengers not to expect services to return to normal straight away and said it was ‘working with airlines to return to a normal schedule as quickly as possible’.
Heathrow has published a confirmed revised schedule for today and plans to run two-thirds of flights.
British Airways has updated its reduced Heathrow flying schedule for today and expects to operate all flights into and out of London Gatwick and London City, although some flights may be subject to delays.
The airline expects to operate the majority of its flights to and from Heathrow on Thursday.
Gatwick reports it is busy with some delays, although things are returning to normal.
Several airports across the UK are still warning of disruption, including Edinburgh, East Midlands.
