People holidaying in Peru should visit Arequipa in the south of the country as it offers a range of activities for those exploring South America. This is the opinion of Suite 101 writer, Victoria Hands, who stated that the destination has a "staggering array" of tours from which to choose.
From there travellers can catch a bus to Cabanaconde, where those peeking out of the window may get a glimpse of the "awe-inspiring views" of the Canon del Colca gorge, she added.
"Cabanaconde is perched on the edge of the canyon, with a narrow knee-trembling path down to the fast-flowing river below (two hours down, four back up!)," Ms Hands stated.
Once at the bottom, tourists can stay overnight at an oasis that features a number of small resorts, man-made pools and waterfalls.
Writing for Suite 101 recently, Melissa Sullivan described Cusco - near Machu Picchu - as an important location, which is steeped in its own cultures and traditions.
