Travellers in South America could have fun spending time in Patagonia's Torres del Paine National Park, as one writer who has been to the area has described it as "heart-stoppingly gorgeous".Ogintz - as she is known - noted in an article for the Ventura County Star that the surrounding countryside in this part of the region comes with snowy peaks, turquoise lakes, fields, glaciers and interestingly-coloured shrubs.
However, fauna is not all that is on offer in the grounds and more adventurous types can hike up to the bottom of the Three Towers, "braving gusting winds along the way", she observed.
Other physical pursuits in Patagonia itself include horseback riding, mountain bike riding and rafting around glaciers.
Holidaymakers who are keen archaeologists might also like to while away a few hours searching for fossilised remains, as scientists recently discovered evidence of four marine creatures from the Jurassic period in the park, the oldest found in the area, the Santiago Times reported.
