People holidaying in Western Australia should visit Ningaloo Reef as it is one of the country's most beautiful attractions.
This is the suggestion of Elen Thomas, UK public relations manager for Tourism Western Australia, who stated that it is possibly even more diverse than its famous rival - the Great Barrier Reef.
She commented: "Where Ningaloo Reef differs from the Great Barrier Reef is it is a fringing reef, which means the coral starts just metres from the shore."
According to Ms Thomas, the feature is one of Australia's "best-kept natural secrets".
Individuals can wade out into the ocean and witness turtles, tropical fish and rays without the need for a long boat ride, she added.
The Ningaloo Coast was recently nominated for a World Heritage Listing because of its geological significance and biological variation.
Hopefully, if the location is approved, it will raise awareness of Western Australia as an excellent tourist destination, Ms Thomas concluded.
