Those looking for something a little different while visiting New Zealand should take a trip to Goat Island, it has been claimed.Writing for Suite 101, Brian Cross stated that the marine reserve, which is a 90-minute drive north of downtown Auckland, is teeming with interesting wildlife and activities.
"The sea life around Goat Island is just a short dip or snorkel away," he remarked, adding that holidaymakers can witness goatfishes, blue maomaos, red mokis and a range of other flora and fauna.
"For the slightly more adventurous … there are kayaks for hire and a glass-bottom vessel that takes groups around the island," Mr Cross commented.
People with children will have a number of pursuits at hand to captivate their offspring, he explained, with parents easily able to monitor their behaviour from the beach.
Individuals keen to see what New Zealand has to offer were recently advised by tour operator Glacier Explorers that trips to see the country's icebergs are amazing.
Operations manager for the firm, Bede Ward, said that some tourists are dumbstruck by the scenes provided by the ice structures.
