New Zealand 'is a whirlwind of sights'

Article content

16 March 2010

New Zealand offers tourists an extraordinary amount of landscapes and activities to enjoy, one expert has claimed.

Writing for The Times, Nuala Harvey stated that she only had ten days to experience the country's delights, yet she still managed to view a number of memorable sights.

One such spectacle involved a trip to the northernmost tip of New Zealand, where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet.

According to Ms Harvey, she stood at an outcrop and could see the line where the two bodies of water join.

"It's a place sacred to the Maori, who believe this is where departing souls come to wait before they return to their spiritual homeland," she remarked.

Other highlights mentioned by the journalist included the vineyards on Waiheke Island, as well as the sand dunes and "striated sculptures" at Hokianga Harbour.

Charles Starmer-Smith noted in a recent Daily Telegraph article that New Zealand is likely to see a huge influx of travellers coinciding with the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
