The third hotel in the boutique Art Series Hotel chain, The Blackman, will open in Melbourne this month. Inspired by the work of Australian figurative artist Charles Blackman, the hotel is located on St Kilda Road just 2.5 kilometres from the CBD.
The hotel uses a bright palette of colours and furnishings throughout and features an original work from Blackman’s Alice in Wonderland series in the foyer.
The 209 rooms include a mix of King and Queen suites with large terraces and balconies offering sweeping views of the city. Two penthouses are the perfect luxury retreat or location for a lavish corporate event.
As with the other Art Series Hotels, The Blackman will have an in-house art curator, inspired, knowledgeable staff and an art library in every suite contributing to an all-round cultural experience.
The first two Art Series Hotels - The Cullen and The Olsen - opened in November 2009 and April 2010 respectively. A new curator tour, encompassing the art at all three hotels as well as small local galleries, will be launched shortly.
