Extraordinary sights in India

Article content

4 November 2009

India is home to an array of impressive sights, it has been asserted.

An article for The Times states that as well as popular iconic attractions such as the Taj Mahal, which is visited by around three million people on an annual basis, the country can boast a wide variety of other stunning sites.

These include Humayun’s Tomb, which is an "extraordinary" proto-Taj built out of red sandstone that dates back to the 16th century and is set in some 30 acres of landscaped gardens.

Built for the second Mughal emperor in 1562, the structure is described by the piece as "a serene shelter from the Delhi storm" that features echoes of Samarkand’s mausoleums, as well as fewer crowds than at the Taj Mahal.

In recent days, Qatar Airways announced the launch of a new non-stop route between Doha and Goa, as it expands its presence in the country.
