An exciting opportunity as a Web Developer has arisen at one of the UK's most prestigious luxury travel tour operators in our busy, productive marketing department.
Responsible For:
Sole web development responsibility for all Wexas-owned web sites including: wexas.com, theluxurycruisecompany.com, wexastravelmanagement.co.uk, best-served.co.uk and any new sites as required.
Driving forward growth across Wexas-owned brands through developing innovative and professional front-end and database driven web functionality – and support for the existing customer base through maintenance of online services and web systems.
Reporting directly to the Digital Marketing Manager and working with the Marketing Director, the Marketing team, and IT, to either introduce or enhance online technology together with processes that ensure the best user experience and highest levels of customer service - playing a key role in the implementation of all Wexas web projects.
You will liaise with Managers and key staff members within the business, helping define requirements and propose solutions (for stakeholder approval) before ensuring the timely implementation of the agreed projects/tasks. You will work alongside and help support a part time web developer.

The Developer will play a crucial role in the digital development of the company, with an added responsibility to provide technical marketing and operational support in key business areas.
Duties include development and maintenance of the websites, administration/resolution of email queries raised by staff members involved with Wexas web properties, technical support for email marketing campaigns, and the preparation of monthly and/or ad-hoc reports on online activity using a variety of analytics tools, including Google Analytics - continually seeking to help the Digital Marketing Manager improve ROI and drive improved campaign effectiveness through the web.
Key Responsibilities/Objectives:
Key objectives include supporting the Digital Marketing Manager in the acquisition, conversion and retention of customers on the various Wexas Travel websites, including specific responsibilities in the following areas:
- Website development – both front-end and back-end
- Web analytics and reporting
- Intranet development and management
- On-site SEO
- Email marketing support
- Server monitoring, maintenance and stability

Required:
Strong technical/development skills
- HTML5 & CSS3
- PHP5 or PHP7
- Linux/Apache
- MySQL
- Laravel (or similar MVC frameworks e.g. Ruby on Rails/CakePHP)
- Javascript
- JQuery
Digital Marketing skills:
- On-site SEO
- Google Analytics
- Email Marketing best practice
- Ecommerce integration
Desirable:
- Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, S3, Cloudfront)
- iOS/Android Development
- XML/XSL
- Data structures, complex algorithms, OOP
Personal Competencies:
The ideal candidate would be someone who has a positive can-do attitude, is a good communicator, takes initiative, and is willing to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.
The ideal candidate would possess:
- A University Degree or equivalent in Web Technology/Digital Marketing/Computer science/Software Development or similar
- Previous experience of creating website pages and using publishing solutions (Content Management Systems)
- Good analytical skills and conceptual thinking
- Articulate in both written and verbal communication
- Excellent Mac & PC skills - Use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
