Air traffic controllers, taxis, unions and banks have announced their intention to continue industrial action on 20 October. Hospital emergency services will not be affected. Visitors are advised to contact their airline for further information about flights. All means of public transport are likely to be disrupted during this 48 hour general strike. Demonstrations are expected around Syntagma Square in central Athens at 11:00 on 19 and 20 October. Road closures will be in place and public transport routes may be disrupted."

"Air traffic controllers in Greece are currently participating in ‘work to rule' industrial action which may result in passengers experiencing some delays and cancellations at airports. Check with your airline before travelling. Demonstrations take place regularly around Syntagma Square in central Athens; the police have recently used tear gas to disperse demonstrators in the square.
