Vietnam Airlines has begun selling tickets for non-stop flights from the UK to Vietnam ahead of the launch of new services in December.
When the airline begins services from London Gatwick to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on December 08, the two return flights a week to each city will provide the only non-stop direct services between the UK and Vietnam. The Vietnamese flag carrier plans to increase frequency to seven flights a week by 2014.
The airline said the UK nearly 90,000 Britons visited Vietnam last year, an increase of 28% from 2009. It hopes Vietnam will become a hub for tourists wishing to travel to Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.
