Many people are choosing to play golf while on a holiday in Brazil, it has been observed.
The country could be set to invest in facilities for the sport after its inclusion in the 2016 Olympics - recently awarded to Rio de Janeiro - was confirmed.
And director at the Brazilian Tourist Office for UK and Ireland Glauco Chris Fuzinatto explained that the states of Bahia, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in particular already have some "fantastic" courses.
"Golf in Brazil is growing quite rapidly and there are quite a lot of people now that combine a holiday with playing golf in Brazil," he said," adding that "billions of dollars" will be spent on organising both the 2016 Olympics and the 2014 football World Cup finals.
Rio de Janeiro was awarded the former event by the International Olympic Committee earlier this month, beating Madrid, Chicago and Tokyo for the right to host the Games.
