Fish River Canyon Extension

Drive from your Kalahari accommodation to the Fish River Canyon, the largest in Africa and the second most visited tourist attraction in Namibia. For the first two days of your trip stay at the Fish River Lodge in the Kalahari Desert, with incredible views across the Canyon Nature Park. The lodge is located in the mighty Fish River Canyon, which is home to a splendid array of flora and fauna, including 100 endemic succulents, and Hartmann’s mountain zebra, springbok, gemsbok (oryx), kudu, steenbok and klipspringers.

The lodge was completed in 2009, and it blends nicely into its stark and striking surroundings. Contemporary and monastic, the lodge was designed to reflect the unique beauty of its location. There are a number of activities and excursions into the surrounding landscape that you can take (at an additional cost) including scenic sundowner drives, canyon drives and canyon hikes - the Fish River Canyon has some world-class hiking due to its remoteness and beauty. There's also a brilliant spa where you can relax and unwind after your day's adventures.

This morning drive to Klein-Aus Vista and spend the night at the Eagle's Nest Chalets where you can take a very wide range of fantastic excursions and adventurous activities. The actual Eagle's Nest Chalets have an intimate atmosphere and are soaked in solitude and silence. They are also set in beautiful landscapes, with exotic mountain scenery and grand swathes of desert plains. A seven-kilometre drive away from the main lodge, the chalet interiors combine natural elements and boulders into their interiors in a rustic and luxurious blend. There are also some great activities on offer including a range of excursions and drives into the surrounding Succulent Karoo, horse riding, and mountain biking.
