From the bright lights of Ho Chi Minh City, travel through the incredible scenery and rich ethnic cultures of the Central Highlands, visit Bach Ma National Park, the World Heritage-listed Phong Nha Caves and finish with the breathtaking beauty of Halong Bay and the stately capital of Hanoi.
Days 1-2 Ho Chi Minh City & Cu Chi
Arrive in former Saigon and meet the rest of the group for drinks and a tour briefing. Visit the citys historic landmarks, see the Chinatown District of Cholon and the citys busiest market. Travel to Cu Chi and see the amazing tunnel system built by Communist soldiers during the Vietnam War. You can crawl through the tunnels themselves, and even fire an AK-47.
Days 3-5 Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku & Kontum
Fly to Buon Ma Thuot in the Central Highlands. Head into the countryside to visit an ethnic minority village on the banks of the Serepok River. Spend a morning exploring the waterfalls of Cum Thak and soak up the countryside and customs of village life around Pleiku. In Kontum, youll get to spend a night at a local homestay.
Days 6-10 Hoi An, Bach Ma & Hué
A spectacular drive down from the highlands to the coast brings you to the merchant town of Hoi An. Continue into Bach Ma National Park and explore its forests and waterfalls. At the Imperial city of Hué, youll visit the extensive tomb network and and take a cyclo ride through the streets.
Days 11-13 Phong Nha Caves, Vinh, Ninh Binh & Halong Bay
Heading inland along the Ho Chi Minh Trail will take you to the World Heritage Phong Nha Caves and the birthplace of Ho Chi Minh, father of modern Vietnam. Take a cruise through the karsts and caves of Tam Coc and later around the thousands of islands in beautiful Halong Bay, where youll stay overnight aboard a traditional junk.
Days 14-16 Hanoi
Visit the Ho Chi Minh Quarter and Temple of Literature, witness a water puppetry performance and end with a celebratory meal at one of Hanois great restaurants.
