This superb self-drive tour takes you to some of the most scenic
National Parks in the world; From the incredible rock formations of
Monument Valley to the Waterfalls of Yosemite, the scenery is just
breathtaking.
Day 1 Los Angeles
Head to your hotel and spend some time in and around the
city.
Day 2 Palm Springs
Perhaps pay an optional visit to Disneyland in Anaheim before
making the drive through the Mojave Desert to the fashionable
resort of Palm Springs.
Day 3 Phoenix/Scottsdale
Through Joshua Tree National Park, across the Colorado River
into the Grand Canyon State of Arizona. Relax in this fabulous
desert resort.
Day 4 Grand Canyon
Take a side visit to Montezuma Castle (a well preserved Native
American cliff dwelling) and maybe a stop in Sedona before reaching
the magnificent Grand Canyon. Spend the afternoon strolling the
South Rim.
Day 5 Page/Lake Powell
Head into Navajo country and then spectacular Monument Valley
before arriving in Lake Powell and Page, Arizona, known for its
hidden canyons.
Day 6 Zion Area/St George
Drive into Utah, through scenic Kanab to Bryce Canyon and Zion
National Park before overnighting in St George.
Day 7 & 8 Las Vegas
You may wish to revisit Zion before continuing your journey to
Las Vegas. Perhaps make a diversion en route to see Hoover Dam.
Then spend a day at leisure in the city that never sleeps and
try your hand with ‘Lady Luck’.
Day 9 Death Valley
Explore the lowest point in the Western
Hemisphere, an area of stark contrasts, towering mountains, sand
dunes and volcanic craters.
Day 10 Yosemite Area/Oakhurst
Make a scenic journey to the gateway of
Yosemite.
Day 11 & 12 San Francisco
Take time to visit wonderful Yosemite before heading to San
Fransciso. See Alcatraz and China Town and a ferry trip to
Sausilito is a must.
Day 13 California Coast
Depart south along the scenic Pacific Coast to Monterey and then
take the 17-Mile Drive through the Del Monte Forest to
Carmel-by-the Sea.
Day 14 Los Angeles
Take the coastal highway via Santa Barbara before continuing to
Ventura, Malibu and your starting point Los Angeles. Be sure to
make a stop at the Hearst Castle. The magnificent mansion of
newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, is today a National
Historic Landmark and well worth a visit.
