Further north, the richly diverse and
malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve is one of
South Africa’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries situated close to the
South
Africa/Botswana border. This reserve
boasts the ‘Super Seven’ – adding cheetah and a thriving population
of endangered African Wild Dog to the already famous Big Five.
There are three intimate camps with a
total of 16 suites which are simple yet striking with rich earthy
colours, stone walls and a thatched roof. Each has a sitting area
and fireplace with French doors leading to the deck and private
plunge pool. All rooms and main lodge deck offer sweeping views out
over the Dwarsberg Range.
