Highlights of Malaysia
Discover all Malaysia has to offer with a fully escorted tour through the country's top attractions and a night either side at Hotel Istana in Kuala Lumpur. Travel from the hustle and bustle of the high-tech capital through the lofty tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands to the serene island beach retreats of Pangkor and Port Dickson.
Days 1–2 Cameron Highlands
Journey north from frenetic Kuala Lumpur to the tranquillity of the Cameron Highlands. Descend to Ipoh, the city of millionaires, which made its fortune from the rich tin mines of the Kinta Valley. En route you’ll visit Kellie’s Castle, built by a Scottish rubber tycoon, and the famous Cave Temples. Continue on to Kuala Kangsar to admire the Ubudiah Mosque with its magnificent golden dome and the Palace of the Sultan of Perak before crossing Penang Bridge, Asia’s longest bridge, to reach Penang.
Days 3–4 Penang
Explore Penang, the ‘Pearl of the Orient’ and the oldest British settlement in Malaysia. Have your picture taken with a venomous snake at the Penang Snake Temple before visiting the city’s other attractions, which include Khoo Kongsi (Dragon Mountain Hall), Fort Cornwallis and the Thai temple of Wat Chayamangkalaram, which houses a 33-metre reclining Buddha. Drive the next day through a patchwork of emerald rice fields to Lumut, where you’ll take a ferry to Pangkor Island. Along the way, visit the Taiping Lake Gardens and the war cemetery within.
Day 5 Pangkor Island
Relax on Pangkor Island’s pristine private beach or explore its sleepy fishing community.
Day 6 Port Dickson
Take a ferry back to the mainland and travel south to Port Dickson, whose popular beaches have long been a favourite among city dwellers seeking sanctuary from busy lives.
Day 7 Kuala Lumpur
Bid farewell to your tour guide and transfer back to your hotel in Kuala Lumpur for your onward journey.
