Day 1 Amman
Arrive in Amman and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 Amman & Jerash
This morning, drive north and visit the ancient city of Jerash, one of the best preserved cities of the Roman empire. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of Jordan’s modern capital, Amman. See the ancient Citadel high above the city, a Byzantine church, the Archaeological Museum or haggle in the souks. At the foot of the Citadel, take a seat at the still intact Roman Theatre, still used for cultural events to this day.

Day 3 Amman
After breakfast, drive to Mount Nebo where Moses was first allowed to see the Holy Land and the site of the Church of Moses which was built by the first Christians. Enjoy the spectacular views over Jordan, the Dead Sea and on a clear day, Jerusalem.

Day 4 Petra
Leave Amman and head for the red-rose city of Petra, stopping first of all at Wadi Bin Hammad, a picturesque, ancient ravine and visit the fortress perched on a hill overlooking the town of Shobak. Then on to Kerak, famous for its heavily fortified Crusader fortress with its underground galleries and secret passageways, and also home to several restored Ottoman buildings. Leave for Petra and check-in to your hotel.

Day 5 Petra
Spend the whole day exploring Petra, A World Heritage Site and one of the great wonders of the Middle Eastern world. Set in a spectacular, deep and narrow gorge, Petra was lost to the world for some 400 years before being rediscovered in 1812. Most famous of all is the Treasury, a 130-foot-tall Hellenistic tomb carved out of the canyon wall, which served as a secret temple in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Spend the day wandering this fascinating city.

Day 6 Aqaba
Venture by 4x4 into Wadi Rum, a dramatic desert valley best known to the West for its connection with British officer TE Lawrence, who based his operations here during the Arab Revolt of 1917-18 and was the setting for the film Lawrence of Arabia. Wadi Rum is also known as ’Valley of the Moon’ for its unearthly landscapes. The Wadi is home to a number of friendly and welcoming Bedouin families. Drive onto Aqaba and check-in to your hotel.

Day 7 Aqaba
Aqaba is a coastal town in the south of Jordan and the country’s only port. Spend the day exploring the town and relaxing at your hotel or on the beach.

Days 8-9 Dead Sea
After breakfast, leave Aqaba and drive north towards the Dead Sea. At 400m below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on the surface of Earth. The air is extremely oxygenous due to high temperatures, low humidity and atmospheric pressure. People have flocked to these shores for thousands of years for medicinal purposes, seeking the curative effects of the minerals in the water and mud. Enjoy the next day easily floating in the sea with its high salt content or try a natural mud pack.

Day 10 Amman
Return to Amman for your flight back to the UK.
